Important

Starting October 31, 2025, Clarity begins enforcing consent signal requirements for page visits originating from the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom (UK), and Switzerland (CH). A valid consent signal is required to ensure full functionality of Clarity features for users in these regions.

Introducing cookies

Cookies are small files stored on the browser that contain data about how your user interacted with your site. They can be used to track and analyze user behavior to improve your site experience. As a website publisher, you may be subject to privacy laws that require obtaining user consent before setting cookies or collecting personal data.

First-party and Third-party cookies

First-party cookies: First-party cookies are cookies that are set and stored by the website you’re currently visiting. They allow the site to remember information related to user preferences and activities, such as signed in state, shopping cart items, and so on.

Third-party cookies: Third-party cookies are small pieces of data stored on a user's browser by a website other than the one they are currently visiting. These cookies are typically used by external services, such as advertisers, analytics platforms, or social media networks to track user behavior across different websites.

Why does Clarity set cookies?

Clarity's typical usage requires that non-essential cookies are set on your visitor's browser. These cookies are placed by the setup script that you installed to run Clarity. Clarity's cookies store a unique pseudonymous ID. This ID is used to associate collected interaction data, allowing Clarity to connect page views and generate aggregated analytics.

Note

If a user has disabled cookies on the browser, Clarity doesn't set cookies.
