Unlike many inmates, she doesn't seem confused or frightened by her sudden appearance here. She doesn't look like she's fazed by much of anything, actually; her face is blank, stoic. When she opens her mouth, her voice is much the same. Deadpan. Every word spoken with the same inflections. Whatever she's actually feeling at this moment, it's a complete mystery.]

So I'm assuming I'm in hell. Is that right? I felt myself die and then woke up in an exact copy of my dorm room, which I'm pretty sure is like the furthest possible point from heaven.

[Mercedes would never make it into any kind of heaven, a fact of which she is well aware. She'd never believed in any of that stuff, but now that it's happening, there's no use in panicking over it. It is what it is, so why get worked up?]

Tell me all about hell, you guys. Is it better or worse than prison? Do I have to wear those ugly orange jumpsuits again? I don't like them, they make me look boxy.

[Yep, she came here from prison and doesn't give a damn who knows it. The damns she gives about anything are very few and far between.]

I'd take burning for an eternity over those jumpsuits, like I'm not even kidding.
