Eighth Shot - Audio
I'll keep this short and sweet.
It appears that we have the Warden coverage for the kitchen so I ain't taking on any of that supervisory shit.
Going to start pitching in for meal prep. Mostly mornings, because I like my coffee, but if anyone needs help or coverage for any of the other shifts, feel free to hit me up.
Please leave any and all potatoes to me. I am retired military; potato peeling was a motherfucking sport in Ranger School.

[Definitely no hard feelings on her end re: their disagreement, she'd be glad to have him. But also politely letting him know her days in case the feeling's not mutual.]

I'm an easy keeper, don't need anything made special. What can I help prep on those days?

Depends on what we're serving. I'm flexible. I'll leave potatoes to you. Chopping vegetables for omelets is helpful.
If people want bacon or ham on the menu, it only happens when someone else cooks it and cleans up after, so you're welcome to volunteer. All mammals in my world are infected with a zombie virus, and bacon would have quite literally killed me back home. Still can't bring myself to go anywhere near the stuff. [Even knowing the meat here is safe, 27 years is a whole lot of conditioning. She'll cook turkey bacon if there's any to be had, but not bacon-bacon.]

I'll keep an ear out if anyone needs help in that area, above and beyond my obsession with the potatoes.

[ Which was Tim's way of saying he absolutely agreed with Trevor's take on the quiet, unannoyed part of sitting and peeling them. ]

Got a lot of free time on your 'ands lately, do yeh?

Resigned from Zero. Got to be worth my keep somehow.

That his default setting? Eh, didn't intimate anything that I wasn't already been made aware of, but he can claim third strike status.

[ Tim sighed and reached up to rub his eyes for a moment, before he continued. ]
I know, logically speaking, he was being an asshole but his words, his tone?Stirred up a lot of the shit I thought I'd made peace with while we were grounded.

You don't believe my running narrative that I am the most well adjusted human being here?

[ Because they both know if that is the case? This ship is fucked. ]

Who can peel the most potatoes in a minute
Who can maintain the longest, continuous peel.
Shit like that.
