Peter Firth and Spooks
Monday. Spooks night. But: no new Spooks. Just episode 9 on BBC1. I've watched it 3 times already.
I've found a new Spooks forum. Only a few regular posters at the moment: quite cosy (for want of a better word!). I've sort of defected from my previous favourite; sometimes it's a chore to wade through so many pages of chat.
I adore Peter Firth as Harry in Spooks. As a consequence I have tried to see as much of his other performances as possible. Watching them makes me think it is Harry I actually adore and not Peter Firth!
I watched 'White Angel' a couple of weeks ago. Well, it's hard to like a serial killer but the film was quite good with a twist at the end.
On Saturday I watched 'Equus'. Disturbing but I wasn't as shocked as I expected to be. He was very young (24?) and I must admit to not liking all that hair he had (also similar in the Dominick Hide TV plays). There's no doubt that he has improved with age; his voice is much more mellow.
I watched 'Tess' yesterday. He had less head hair but unappealing facial hair! I like him in this and I enjoyed the film; I had thought I'd seen it before but it must be a very long time ago if I did. I did remember some of the story but most of it seemed very unfamiliar. He was quite 'normal' in it: he does seem to adopt odd mannerisms in some roles he has and some are quite camp; I don't find it attractive.
I've recently watched 'Northanger Abbey' again. He is very camp in this but at 32 he's looking more mature and I really like the final scene: breeches, boots, leather gloves, kissing....
