Everyone knows 'google' and 'kleenex' were brand names first. The sneaky ones feel completely generic: escalator, zipper, dumpster, and trampoline were all trademarks once. The one that stops people is aspirin. It was a Bayer trademark, not a plain word, for decades. Which one did you never know was a brand?
