프뤼네

프뤼네(고대 그리스어: Φρύνη, 기원전 370년 이전 – 기원전 316년 이후)는 고대 그리스의 헤타이라(ἑταίρα, 고급 창녀)였다. 본명은 므네사레테로, 보이오티아의 테스피아이 출신이지만 생애 대부분을 아테네에서 보낸 것으로 보인다. 그녀는 가난하게 자랐다고 전해지나, 이후 그리스에서 가장 부유한 여성 중 한 명이 되었다.

프뤼네는 웅변가 하이페레이데스가 변호를 맡았던 불경죄 혐의 재판으로 알려져 있다. 전설에 따르면 그녀는 배심원단 앞에서 젖가슴을 드러내고 무죄를 선고받았다고 하나, 이 에피소드의 역사적 정확성은 의심스럽다. 그녀는 또한 예술가 아펠레스와 프락시텔레스의 모델이 되기도 했으며, 크니도스의 아프로디테는 그녀를 모델로 한 것으로 알려져 있다. 프뤼네는 르네상스 기간에는 거의 주목받지 않았으나, 18세기 말부터 그녀에 대한 예술적 관심이 커지기 시작했다. 그녀의 재판은 1861년 장-레옹 제롬의 그림 아레오파고스 앞의 프뤼네에서 묘사되었는데, 이 작품은 이후 그녀를 다룬 많은 묘사에 영향을 미쳤으며, McClure가 묘사하길 그녀를 "국제적인 문화적 아이콘"으로 만들었다.^[1] 시각 예술에서의 묘사뿐만 아니라, 19세기 이후 문학, 연극, 영화 등에도 등장해 왔다.
