There's nothing more fun than making lists for an, ahem, committed fan, is there?  Based off of rusty_halo's meme, here are some of my DW thoughts now that the fourth series is over in the always satisfying list format:

Best Characters in order

  1. The Tenth Doctor
  2. Donna
  3. Rose
  4. The Ninth Doctor
  5. Pete Tyler (I just love him, okay?)

Best villains in order:

  1. The Master
  2. Dalek Caan
  3. Brother Lassa
  4. Blon Fell Fetch
  5. The Family of Blood

Best pairings in order (not necessarily romantic)

  1. The Doctor/Rose
  2. The Doctor & Donna
  3. The Doctor & the Master
  4. The Doctor & Jack
  5. John Smith/Joan

Best Episodes:

This is so hard!  I tried to be strict and list the best whole episodes, not otherwise okay ones that also include a single amazing scene or sequence – thus, no Doomsday.  Also, I totally cheated and included multi-part episodes as one story, if all parts were awesome.  This is just chronological order, too, because half the list would be my most favorite favorite.

Best Scary Moments:

  1. Blink, when Larry is trying to keep his eyes open and just HAS to blink/, when the TARDIS is leaving Sally and Larry behind
  2. Midnight, when the human passengers start to turn on the Doctor/when the Doctor is being dragged to airlock and can’t even fight back
  3. The Girl in the Fireplace, when the clockwork robot bolts out from under the bed
  4. The Family of Blood, when the Family attacks the school
  5. The Satan Pit, the Doctor letting himself fall into the pit

This was a toughie, because Blink and Midnight are the only two episodes that are genuinely scary all the way through IMO.

Best Weepy Moments:

  1. Doomsday, the Doctor saying good-bye to Rose
  2. Father’s Day, Pete saying good-bye to Rose and Jackie before stepping out in front of the car
  3. The Girl in the Fireplace, the Doctor reading Reinette’s letter
  4. The Family of Blood, Joan realizing what John Smith has to do
  5. Journey’s End, Donna’s mental break-down/the Doctor saying good-bye to oblivious Donna/the Doctor alone in the TARDIS

Best Funny Moments:

  1. The Unicorn and the Wasp, when the Doctor is poisoned
  2. Partners in Crime, Donna and the Doctor’s pantomime when they first see each other
  3. The Fires of Pompeii, “I am Spartacus”/the Doctor pulling out a water pistol
  4. School Reunion, Mickey and K-9 – “you are in a car”
  5. Boomtown, Margaret’s attempts to kill the Doctor at dinner and his casual response

This could basically just be the Doctor and Donna all the way through.  Oh, man, I miss 'em.

Best Romantic Moments:

  1. The Stolen Earth, the Doctor and Rose run to one another
  2. Doomsday, Rose comes back to the Doctor/the Doctor loses Rose
  3. Girl in the Fireplace, the Doctor and Reinette’s kiss/later psychic connection
  4. The Family of Blood, John Smith and Joan in the cottage, seeing the life they could have had together
  5. The Parting of the Ways, the Doctor kisses Rose to save her
  6. The Idiot’s Lantern, when the Doctor sees Rose restored
  7. Journey’s End, Rose kisses one Doctor and loses the other
  8. Doomsday, Jackie and alt!Pete reunite (sort of ) (they deserved their own place on the list)
  9. The Forest of the Dead, Donna just misses Lee
  10. The Doctor Dances – exactly

Individual Favorite Moment ever – not necessarily the moment at which the character was at their best, but the one that gets me the most:

  1. Nine: Bad Wolf: When he promises to come get Rose (honorable mention: The Empty Child: talking to Nancy about how she saves the world)
  2. Ten: The Doctor’s Daughter, talking about Gallifrey and his lost family (honorable mention: Utopia: all of it!  But specifically, bonding with Yana, talking to Jack, finding out Yana could be a Time Lord, begging the Master not to leave)
  3. Rose: The Parting of the Ways: talking about the better way of life she found with the Doctor (honorable mention: The Satan Pit: leading the team while fearing the Doctor is lost, not to mention killing Satan)
  4. Donna: The Fires of Pompeii: begging the Doctor to save the family (honorable mention: The Poisoned Earth: Getting up the courage to leave the TARDIS)
  5. Martha: The Stolen Earth: Returning to her mother at the end of the world
  6. Jackie: Love & Monsters: Telling Elton what it’s like to be left behind
  7. Mickey: School Reunion: Teasing Rose about Sarah Jane
  8. Captain Jack: Utopia: Talking with the Doctor while in the radiation room
  9. The Master: The Sound of Drums: the Master’s phone call to the Doctor
  10. Pete Tyler: Father's Day: Sacrificing himself for his family and the world
