Visually the game looks really nice. The interface is pleasant, and I liked the work with the sound effects and VFX. The only problem was that I didn’t really understand how to play, so a tutorial would definitely help if you continue developing this game.
I stand by the comments of Airy and Beebster. You give the mission what to do but now how. Don't assume that other people know the genre and its possible standards as good as you. Make an intro page or give more info about the controls, for example.
The models and animations were good, the game had a certain flow, SFX and music were ok. Though, I did not see the theme as it seemed to be a typicial tower defense game with waves.
It took me a while to realize I had to search for and collect the resources myself. I wasn't able to collect resources fast enough and summon the troops to be able to beat the 5th wave. Also the searching for resources meant there wasn't time to watch the action. But overall it was an interesting idea.
Thank you for the game!
So, not sure how I send guys out to gather materials, then add new structures, or more guys. Was there something I am missing?
The game looks great and is a very good start for something that could be great fun.
You're meant to gather the materials yourself by clicking them around the map, then use them to purchase units for defense of the base. There's no structure addition in this one
Honestly this game loop didn't work out. But I did learn a lot
Okay, gotcha, thanks
Thanks for the game. it's interesting and different. and a nice implementation for the time frame of the Jam. I am missing a little the connection to the theme though.
The original idea was making connections to nearby kingdoms by offering resources. I had to scope back on those components as I realized don't have the experience yet to implement them yet (cutscenes and dialogue) and there was no time to learn them and implement them well
I enjoyed what I played!
The concept is interesting, and I think the execution came together nicely. The visuals, music, and overall presentation work well together and create a solid experience.
It's also great to see a strategy-focused entry in the jam. You can tell a lot of thought went into the systems and gameplay.
Great job on the submission, and congratulations on the project!
Good strategic game
I could not figure out how to play the game. I checked the game page after the first try, and saw I was supposed to gather resources. I found a few but then couldn't do anything with them. Couldn't figure out how to recruit. Also, it was really hard to see the black text on your page against that dark blue background.
Neat idea though.
Thankss for playing.
There might be a CSS issue with that browser. The text on my page is meant to be white against the dark blue
It's always refreshing to see a strategy game on a game jam. Good job!
Really love the astehtic. The balancing is pretty hard and I lost pretty fast my motivation, because I could never find enough resources in the given time between waves.
But for 10 days it is really cool.
The look of the game is nice and the music and sound work well.
I didn't personally enjoy the game I may have been playing it wrong. I think you were suppose to spend your time scouring the map to find resource to click on. So that you could then purchase new knights to help defend the towers. The issue was that I then never really go to witness much of the fighting or get invested in the tower or its defense. I felt disconnected from the main event that was happening in the game.
That said you seem to have done really well in making all this for the Jam and its a solid enough submission.
I liked the music, I liked the style, I liked the concept. I love that I could move the camera fast. I think I made it up to wave 3. I tried it a couple times. sometimes I got better random resources and was easier. My 1st run was a disaster. I couldn't find any wood at all. I had better luck on the next ones and I enjoyed it more. A few tweaks here and there can help. It was addictive to play and I love this kind of games in general. Good job and congrats for your entry :)
Thanks for playing.
When the jam is over, I'll be overhauling the resource mechanic and maybe using that system in future projects.
I wanted to see if the randomness of the resources was a good idea but it's clearly not. The RNG factor seems to be too high
This is a pretty fun strategy game, I just wish I could zoom out more and have a better view of the whole land while keeping tabs of my fortress at the same time. The most persistent problem that I faced while playing was the constant stuttering in every settings preset (even at the lowest settings). Other than that, I had a pretty good time playing this game. Keep it up!
Thanks for playing
Curious about the stutter as i havent heard that one yet even when i tested it on a GT1050.
What hardware are you working with?
I'm currently rocking a RTX 3060, and I couldn't get the stutters to go away even after fiddling with settings and multiple restarts. But it doesn't stop me from finishing the game and reaching wave 5 though! had a good time still :)
Alright, well thanks for the feedback and glad you liked it. I'll keep an eye out and see if I can replicate that
I liked playing the game but it was quickly frustrating due to the randomness and scarcity of the resources. Since you were waiting for one resource usually, most of time you scrolled around in the game and was not actually doing much :D Or maybe I missed the trick how to efficiently gather the resources.
But I like the idea and the visuals and style. Thanks for making it!
Thanks for playing.
That's indeed the intended experience.
I need to do better there next time as the feedback seems to be universal on that aspect from every one
This is a really cool entry but it took me a while to figure out how to collect stuff and up to now I can't figure out how to defend my base. I get the knights to come over but there's so many enemies I get overwhelmed quickly. The art and layout is nice but losing so quickly frustrates me.
Looked really cool, but didn't really understand what I needed to do and why... but still I liked the look.
Polished, but too difficult and rng based in my opinion
First of all nice and cute game. But I really was confused in the beginning and even yet are still. I have the problem of never having wood and the rest of the woord respawning too late so I never can train troops. It kinda throws me off that there are several buildings that doesnt really do anything atm. Not saying it is a bad game. I can think of it as a cool game to play when having some free time. The sounds and Music were great.
Small thing for me when I switched the music to 0 % in the main menue and then back to another lets say 40% it never can back (in the menue) It still came back in the round.
Still props out, that you pulled this off alone.
Appreciate the detailed feedback.
Going to see if I can replicate and fix that audio bug.
Regarding the resources, I understand. I gambled with making them random to see if that could work as a system.
The buildings should all work though. Only the home base does nothing. One building spawns knights and the other raiders. Is one of them not functioning?
No all of them working so far I mean the decoration ones. Other than that I'm happy to see how the game progresses. 😊
Oh those. Lol yeah those were purely decorative
I like the music and the coherent artstyle. Got a bit confused on what I was supposed to do at the start and it was just clicking stuff around the map. The AI battling each other was pretty cool I've no idea how to program those yet.
