OH! Nice, a programming-game! Thats a perfect interpretation of the theme.Had quite some fun with it.
It took me a while (and countless workpieced, hehe) until i understood what to do with the first job, but then i finally managed to cut the 10x10 square withe the 4x4 sqare hole in its center.

# outer cut
G X10 Y0
C Y10
C X0
# inner cut
G X3 Y3
C X6
C Y6
C X3
C Y3

Had fun with the game, some audio would be cool. And some impact of buying workpieces / selling finished jobs ;-)

Super cool concept, and right on-point for the theme!

But the very first job, I must have messed something up and I can’t tell what it is: image.png

Just in case you are still curious what your issue was: the outside of the square should be 10 pixels wide, but yours is only 8 pixel wide (you cut from 1 to 10 leaving only pixels 2, 3, …, 9 - 8 in total). Same for the inner cut, which should be 4 wide but you cut 6.

The result preview also highlights this, the black outline is still part of the solution and it got a red tint, means you cut to much.

I guess a tutorial would help, but in general it should be a challenge to get right and you have to perform some arithmetic in your head ;)

Ohhhhh I see now, the outlines are part of the piece. I took those to be where the cuts go.

amazingly detailed simulator of a CNC. took me back to my eng workship days. I think adding a tutorial and just a more clear UI would be great add ons! hope you keep developing it!

Wow hahaha CNC simulator, now thats machine themed alright.

I didn't understand the first puzzle I guess I'm not smart enough to be a machinist.    I like coding games though and never heard of Zig language so thanks for that!

It is an interesting game. It took me a while to figure the schematics and what the task wanted me to do, but after that was pretty good. Nice submission!

Master this game and there's a paying job waiting for you!!

I don't understand how I can cut a square that's 3 on one side and 4 on the other. or is that not the goal?

No job for me :-(

Developer

Regarding the first task / schematic (there are multiple in the game), the numbers are next to some yellow lines, indicating the dimensions.

The square should be:

  • 10 wide / tall
  • 3 is the thickness
  • 4 is the inner cut square wide / tall

Yes it’s definitly not for everyone and I guess a tutorial would be helpful, while the game is intentionally a bit challenging and you have to do some arithmetic in your head ;)

I had a really good time with this game! It's mostly an arithmetic challenge to calculate the right coordinates, but it's more challenging than I would expect - I was often 1 pixel off point. The border of the schematic was a bit confusing - at first I wasn't sure if it's part of what should stay or what should be cut. All in all it's very enjoyable :)
