The mechanic of picking ingredients to construct a certain shape was really unique! I loved solving the puzzle made by each order and you tied it into the brewing theme really well. I thought the pot animation was super charming as well. Great work!
thank you very much! super glad you enjoyed it
Great take on the theme, good work!
thank you!
I cant get over how good the cauldron stirring animation looks
thank you so much, appreciate that :)
Wow this is a lot of fun. Once I started, I couldn't stop playing. Challenging at first but once you get the hang of it its really fun. The art, music, sfx everything fits so nicely together.
thank you very much! very glad you had fun
Unique idea! Seems simple at first but scales nicely after the first couple ones.
thank you! appreciate you playing
Gives a papa's pizzeria kind of vibe that I can't quite explain in words. Fun game and good work for your first jam especially! Hope you continue to do some more!
I'll have to check that one out :) thank you for playing!
Great idea to make it a puzzle game by shapes. I liked that there is progression and also kind of "boss" brewings with short patience
thank you!!
Very cute game. I thought it was simple at first then the later days hit and I was toggling on and off all the time because I wanted it to be perfect hehe
Good job! :)
hah yea there's quite the switch up a few days in, glad you enjoyed it! thank you
Well, this was a nice, cozy puzzle potion brewing game! The relaxing, medieval shire music, the fun little sound effects for each of the different potions, easy to pick up mechanics made playing very inviting. The difficulty progression was balanced; day 1 and 2 lull you into a sense of, "Oh, this is easy!" Day 3 I found myself toggling the potions to try and get it to match perfectly. Day 4 started to get challenging with the subtracting potions. It wasn't until a second play through that I noticed the stats were color coded with the potions, so I was able to systematically choose the potions versus randomly toggling to get it to fit. My programming brain kept trying to figure out your potion mechanic algorithm as well :) Did you name the game after the font, or was that a coincidence? My only critique if I had to make one was the brewing animation could've used more polish, but other than that, this was a great entry for the jam. Well done!
thank you very much for playing and the feedback :) really appreciate it
I wish I had done a better job at conveying that ingredients are related to some attributes.. it will be one of my main focus if the game gets expanded
and we chose the name on the last day, and the font a few hours before submission xD
and agreed on the brewing, tbh even the cauldron could use a lot more love. But I'm still learning pixel art and just getting something that resembled a liquid moving was good enough for me on this jam lol
happy to share more details on the potion mixing mechanic if you want!
thanks again for playing
Super well put together game! Everything worked smooth and all the attention to detail really shined through. I had blast frantically throwing all my potions into the pot at the end of day 2 when I realized that's what the solution was in the last seconds lolol
I really liked the gradual introduction to the mechanics (transitioning into GOOO mode at the end of day 3 haha) and I thin the polish level is really high! Adding a remove all ingredients button would've been a nice addition as there were a few times where I was like "this is all wrong" and had to spend some time quickly clicking off everything. Once I realized that the ingredients were all organized and how to better read the chart at a glance, the game hooked me (the first 'star' pattern with 4 things maxed and the others at 0 was the puzzle where it clicked that everything was in order with the different stats, seeing them all clicked in with the reducers). Only other thing was how difficult it was to read the dialogue. I liked finishing my potion, checking if I had time, then reading it, but I def missed a ton bc I didn't have enough time lol
P.S. I did it first try! Was hooked all the way through, amazing job!!
thank you very much! honestly it means a lot that you really enjoyed it, I am super glad
adding a "remove all" button is a great idea, honestly I had not thought about it until your comment but it makes so much sense lol. I am glad you got that some ingredients do specific things, but I could have done a better job at conveying that earlier on!
the comment about not being able to read is also very valid. Tbh the UI was a little bit messy, we got some good feedback on how to improve things as a whole, so in the next jam we will definitely keep those in mind. I personally really enjoy writing those little bits of text, so will do a better job at highlighting them next time :)
thank you again for playing and leaving this comment, really appreciate it!
Fantastic choice of music, was instantly drawn in and hooked. Sound effects are cool too. I think it is the strongest part of your game. Overall everything is good and fits the theme. The game mechanic starts very easy, has than a good balance, and on day 4 I got wrecked, could not fit in the shapes very good.
I would have gone for a slightly different font, I think the readability is suffering a bit to much here or it is to brutal for my eyes at least. Also i could not really follow the UI on the top, because i was only focussed my view on the center of the game.
So is there more strategie behind it than to fast hover over all possible "ingredienz/puzzle pieces" to see which fits best and than add them after each other?
I like...more...responsiBREWlity ;)
Very good entry for your first jam
thank you for playing and for the detailed feedback! I really appreciate it
day 4 indeed has a big jump. I wanted to make it more gradual but couldn't do it in time. The system iterated a lot as we made it, and because of my noob skills a lot of it was done manually, so changing stuff around was a bit hard :D
agreed with the font comment! I especially realized it was hard to read after writing the How to Play page , but this was so close to the end we couldnt change in time
I think part of the game is for sure hovering all the possible combinations, BUUT our idea was that gradually the player would get more used to what ingredients do what, so they could reason better on what was missing instead of hovering everywhere. We tried color coordinating things (so red elements give courage, blue sorrow, etc) but we've received feedback that its not super clear and could be better, so its something for sure we are learning from
thanks again for your time!
i was hooked right from the start! easy to understand and easy to get addicted to it!
thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it!
Love how thought out and polished this game came out, great job!
thank you!! it means a lot :)
Honestly, amazing! Especially for a first jam. Great level design, great mechanic. Even well polished!
Great use of kenney's UI too.
thank you very much! :)
Not the Deltarune logo font 😭
Really fun and intuitive game, and satisfying to get the shapes exactly filled in (or at least close enough)
thank you for playing and dropping a comment!
Great game! after a while of playing I got the hang of brewing and also learning how each ingredient adds to the potion
nice! glad you got to know them, thanks for playing
Most of the fun in the game comes from testing each possible ingredient and trying to find the right ones. This, combined with the pixel art, music, and sound effects that play when you select an ingredient, creates a very satisfying atmosphere that made me feel like a true alchemist.
One thing I didn't like was that you only get points when you reach the exact stat value required by the client. This limits the possible correct answers to just one and creates moments where you come very close in all categories but still receive a negative score.
I think you should focus on the trial-and-error aspect of the gameplay: randomize the ingredients each round and make the score depend on how close the player gets to the client's request.
Overall, this is a very polished game with a great variety of content for a game jam. The difficulty progression is excellent. I especially liked how you portrayed the customers in a hurry; it creates a sense of urgency that really pulls the player's attention back.
thank you so much for the thorough comment! really appreciate you taking the time.
and I agree 100%, this turned out to be quite a time-intensive system to make, so there are a lot of improvements to make. Thanks for the feedback
This is a great game. Very satisfying to brew up the perfect potion.
thank you! glad you brewed up some nice potions
Very fun game that I got a bit too much into xD, played it for a long time, super cool
and yes, I am reading this
and also, real
All in all, super enjoyable game! Really liked the bits of humor in between :D
haha I am very glad you posted the screenshot of the question, makes me so happy someone finally read it!!!
thank you for playing and the feedback :)
Great game! For the first few days I thought it was just gonna be a really simple game and it was a bit too easy, then I got to day 3 and 4 and realized I was wrong lol. Everything was polished. I loved the indepth settings and the sounds! The only flaw I could really find was that the buttons could still be hovered over when you when you went to brew the potion so you'd see all of the ingredient names when the brewing animation was playing. But that's not a big deal at all.
thank you very much!
and nice catch, did not see that at all
