Hello, ive recently beaten first kiln, and ive been having trouble unlocking the other modes and the grapple.
After beating it, it did not give me a message that another mode unlocked or that I got a new hook, neither did they show up anywhere. I was able to get the inverted nightmare mode by reinstalling the game, however this did not unlock the hook, and I am unable to unlock the first kiln inverted mode no matter what I do.
I tried reinstalling the game and beating first kiln and inverted nightmare multiple times, however nothing seems to fix this. I am also using the latest version of the game, which includes the sandbox(this issue started happening before the sandbox update released).
I absolutely love the game, and would love some support on this issue

Thank you for creating this! Had A LOT OF FUN playing it! A centipede did set me straight.

Anytime i try to download it, its saying it contains a virus? is there anyway to fix this on my end?

very common for games outside of famous plataforms like steam, just tell your antivirus its fine or shut it off while booting up the game

make an xbox port.

This game made me discover my fear for centipedes

Oh my god
We played this on stream the other day and I absolutely loved it
I'm not sure what I was really expecting but it blew away all of those expectations and the game was incredible.
This is an early version but the game was so good I'm going to go buy it now because it deserves it so much
I don't really have much to say negative about this game, it may be a little bit dark and finnicky at times but I don't even really care. It's too good
Keep up the excellent work
Here's my playthrough if you're interested in some really weird janky falls, jumps, and resets

very good game!!!
the only parts i didnt like were the first kiln (i hate the centipede that can just completely block the first part, and the starting area just felt way too hard) and nightmare inverted mode (i just couldnt find how to even scale down it)
worth the price.

I enjoyed every second of this game. I believe it has replay-able value. Love the lore and world building. such an interesting game. Keep doing what you're doing

Great Game worth the asking price

First, Really liked the game, the graphics and the story, it is really cool, and i also really loved the gameplay. So i've tried modding it to make an Infinite Version, Inspired by White Knuckle and its way of random generation (pre made rooms and things like that).

I Have really good progress right now, the generation is mostly done, and i just need to do an upgrade system and some more things for it to be done.

I am saying this because i wanted to check with the dev to see if i could publish the infinite mode, it would be the only thing in the game, with the story and the extra modes pulled out, as to not be just an free version of the game (there will be no monetary gain with the mod). And also to ask for any changes you want for an published version (what you want in the mod or removed)
I also wanted to see if you guys could help me with some of the stuff (mostly with how the game works under the hood, as im having some trouble figuring it out 😅) and to see if you guys would want to make some rooms for the mod!

If you want this, text me via discord: .creeperm
I will not be publishing it otherwise, and will be just finishing it for friends and myself.

this game is really really good BUT my entire save file just got wiped for no reason

update; deleting the game's file in the godot folder somehow actually fixed it for me? it runs now with my old save lol

Gameplay HERE!

I just finished Nightmare mode, and I liked it much more than the normal mode. The speed it demands makes it more entertaining and gives you more adrenaline! In fact, I managed to finish it even faster haha. Now it’s time to try the final mode! Once again, I have to say, great game!.

Think I might've played this a tad wrong hah, but I had so much fun, thankyou for sharing it with us! :))

Nightmare mode is awesome. First Kiln in progress.

It would be really cool if it came out for consoles, like Playstation. :-)

Today! We found the corpse of "Idols Of Ash"

Flesh (Visuals):

Love the look, that pixelly, PSX look to it, the pit looked great, the "ghost memories" I enjoyed

Dismemberment (Difficulty):

Coming from someone who never played this kinds of games like white knuckle and such, feel like a medium difficulty on the normal setting, have not tried nightmare yet, its not too hard once you get the idea of the controls, I kept finger screwing up all over int he beginning, got easier the more I played and you learn the route, I used the mouse and keyboard but saw there was a controller option which, personally, would have been better for me but stuck to it

Infestation (Bugs):

Just the centipede! No other bugs I noticed

Corpse Integrity (Story):

Story was interesting, as you dive deeper, you get more clues... as long was you can make it to the kilns since they are your check points, once you make it to the bottom, you get the ending, but I liked it, each spot giving you another clue, I forgot to hit the tent at the beginning until I just jumped on to test something, but as you plunge, you get glimpses of memories and the reason why you are descending.

Something Off About It? (Ambience):

The ambience was not so much the chills and jumpscare build up, more about the panic of your next move, hoping to hook that rock as you free fall, trying not to becomes a splatter centipede slurpy, I found it panic/anxiety inducing and that feeling when you hit a bump or about to go down a hill on a coaster feeling in the human meat guts, ramping up when you hear the centipede gaining and clacking on the walls. I different kind of horror

How Long To Dismember (Playtime):

For me? Roughly 30 minutes with some deaths and knowing where to go, sadly my first run, my brainmeat broke and did not hit record, but feel 30 minutes is a fair amount, less if you know what you are doing

Value Of Meat (Price):

Was free I believe on Itchio when it first came out, snagged it before free is in the budget! And bought it also on steam lol

Currently on Itchio for $3.00 and Steam for $2.99 which for the experiance I had, feels like a good price, at this time, the dev is still dropping fixes and improvements, still active

Post Mortem Thoughts:

Idols Of Ash was rad af! Never played a game like this yet and it was a sweaty, stressful and awesome time, few times I am willing to go back and replay a harder difficulty in games, definitely these types, but this one has a draw for me to want to, everything play wise felt good, no issues, loved the look, the centipede was a pretty cool choice for a enemy and didn't realize it had hands and such until I was messing around and tried to pet it, easy a recommend and high rating. Great Job Leafy Games!

This was an insanely fun mechanic. I would buy a longer version of this for sure. Great game!

As a recommendation, you should add achievements for the Steam version where players can complete normal mode without any checkpoints, complete nightmare mode in under 6 minutes (or slightly less), or finish the First Kiln in under 3 minutes. This would make it a bit more challenging

masterpiece

Is it possible to have the game on Steam if I already have it here?
A tremendous masterpiece, 20/10 and god

Me too over here

had a great time with this game, the grapple mechanics are so much fun and the stress of being chased really builds the tense which all blend together to make for a fantastic experience.

It's a fun game. I've played it many times.

Great game bro had lots of fun playing it!

Leafy, assiste esse vídeo do Daishikawa, ele fez um video jogam o seu jogo e ele deixou uma ideia pra adicionar no seu jogo.

If this game had an expansion or something to make the story longer, I'd say I'd hella pay like $20 for it. The grapple is such a fun mechanic and I'd love to play more.

10/10 game, Cured my fear of centipedes and hight.

Loved your game so much!!! espically with my fear of heights being mixed in with this plus the unexcepted centipede was cherry on top!!! love your work

(+1)

I loved this so much!! Best climbing game in the last year!

Fire game

Nah this game unlocked a new fear. I literally felt like somthing was crawling on me.

(-1)

Great game, I feel like the closer to the bottom i get the faster the monster sped up. Everything felt smooth, IF there was anything more to do it'd be add more features because the core game is solid.
(+1)

So, now monster can detach your grapple hook? I'd rather stick with version 1.13 xd

Idk if my reply posted but here is a follow up from the issue i noticed a bit ago, TY FOR YOUR EFFORTS YOU GUYS ARE AMAZING :)

Hey! I just got through playing/reviewing your game so I'll leave a link here if you're curious. Also, feel free to use the timestamps in the description. :)

This is a game that will leave you feeling like you need another play through just because you want to. Literally the one game you need to play if you like grappling hooks, have a fear of heights, and HATE creepy crawlers. I fully support this project and wish the best for the future. Thank you for making this!

Honestly this was one of the scariest Climbing games I played of recent memory also I give this game 10/10 It was really good but I hope all of you guys on here enjoy this one:)
(1 edit)

it's a terrifyingly good game, got a good chase by the huge crawling boy. it was relentless. i think it was super tricky (the centipede) because once you are dead at a certain point and getting revived at the last checkpoint, the centiboy is already down there camping, waiting.

this game is giving me iron lung/getting over it vibe. <3

iron lung - because the centipede-like enemy, creepy and disgusting.

getting over it - because you need to redo over and over again until you get good you know.

and i think the enemy in nightmare/inverted nightmare have the best/worst intelligence of getting my ass clapped. it can even bite the rope which surprises me the most. my ass keeps clutching as i descended down.

the game is giving me high cortisol the entire time i was playing it. already beat the nightmare mode off recording, thinking of beating the inverted mode. to be honest, it was more challenging because there was no checkpoint and i think i am cooked, chat.

10/10 would recommend anyone who wanna play some climbing down/chase with a huge crawling-pede. life changing.tm

This is such a good game, folks. Perfectly executed mechanic, perfectly terrifying monster. Endlessly replayable for me.

I'm eager to see the sandbox version, as I wanna see more of the First Kiln, but can't get much further than the first few areas right now.

Thanks for putting such thought and effort into this.

(+1)(-1)

After beating the game, I decided to tweak the files to get rid of the murderpede and just focus on the climbdown. Tbh, I think this approach is even more pulse-pounding. With the monster chasing you, you rush through things, fling yourself around without thinking. Without, things are slower and quieter, but the dread is somehow worse, especially on the more difficult maps you unlock. My palms were legit sweaty at many points. I definitely hope you add this as an optional mode (and in VR!).

(I just wish there were more of a reward for beating the advanced/inverted maps. The first couple have one neat bonus and I think a line of extra lore, but it was disappointing beating the later ones and just getting the same ending cutscene as before.)
