Cute hamster!
What does 5.H.0.C.K. stand for?
It was cute that we keep reviving the hamster to keep running, but I had it bug where despite 3 checkmarks (and 3 x) I couldn't escape that screen. I also liked the "kaizo" style spikes that moved as you approach ( assuming that was the intent? )
I also had some times where I ended up failing a jump, leading to a chain of constant revivals.
The second mode was more fun as I felt I had more control, but the surprise spikes felt worse on that mode.
I don't remember seeing a third trial?
Cool concept but I agree with some of the other feedback that the second half felt stronger than the first. I'd be curious to see how your game would play differently as well if you could telegraph that a spike was about to move—it felt a little unfair when I'd have to break out the paddles (again) because spike would move into my path at the last moment without any indication that I should try to dodge or think differently about the path I was on.
A game with an interesting concept. I liked the game's graphics and the defibrillator mechanics.
The moving spikes are too difficult!
This is sooo cute, it might have been better if it was all the second gameplay mode, the platforming is really awkward, and I feel like the runner mode fits better with the defibrillator mechanic. The defibrillator is so fun, and would work amazingly as a like one-time revival in a different game. Great Job!
I kept dying to the unpredictable moving spikes, lol. Good job on the submission.
Fun! I wish the speed was a bit better and didn't feel as stiff, but still fun!
Cute lil game! I liked the illustration of the hamster, although it felt a little morbid reviving him from cardiac arrest for some reason haha
The minigame sometimes felt a little unresponsive and i think i broke it at the end by spamming Spacebar oops!
The moving spikes killed me a lot. The defib mechanic was really cool and somewhat unexpected. Nice work.
We wanted the game to be a little tricky to make it more challenging, thanks for playing!!
Good work! I liked the defibrillators mechanic, even though it made almost impossible to lose. Maybe it could be limited, or made more difficult each time you use it.
Yesss, it was supposed to be limited, but we run out of time. Thanks for ur comment :)
The moving spikes are so mean. 😫
Nice finite runner game. The hamster looks cute.
Thank you for comment and the kind words!!
I really liked the artwork and music though it could really have benefited from some sfx as well. Gameplay wise I would say I came close to using up all of my unlimited lives, but I made it through to become super hamster! Great vibe overall and good theme adaptation!
Thank you very much for the feedback, we are glad that you liked the game!!
Ooooh boy. Super hamster was indeed achieved. But that was a tough battle.
The first section felt... very unforgiving. Yes, there are unlimited revives, and it doesn't seem like there's a consequence to dying either. Though, the jump pads, the way the spikes moved, and the jump height the hamster gained seem very minimal. I'm not sure if I was meant to hold it or whatnot, but it felt very unforgiving to me.
The second section was an interesting choice. Felt like that Deltarune sliding portion, but the only thing I was bugged about was the hitboxes and the way the spikes moved. They were just as unforgivable, if not even more, and it felt more difficult. The hitboxes also seemed to encompass the entire hamster, rather than just its feet, which is what I'd assume would be a more fair change. I'm really unsure if it's just me that's being bad or if it's the mechanics punishing me unfairly.
Regardless, the music was pretty good, though I wished it was tweaked a little; the atmosphere was adorable, and the hamster has become the strongest warrior.
Overall, I'll give this a 3/10. But for a first game (from the looks of it), this is wildly impressive. Keep up the work on your team, and I hope you both make great games with more practice and hard work!
Thanks for taking the time to give us such great feedback! :)
You're right, death should have consequences, but we ran out of time. About the jump pads: they work better if you don't jump on them; otherwise, the boost isn't enough. The other issues probably just slipped by us.
We're still new at this, so we really appreciate your input!
Haha the shock paddles.
I can't tell if the way the spikes move is meant to be a troll but sometimes they move in an avoidable way that I feel like they know my next move before I make it. Fun though.
