How does the game fit the theme?
This simple game is basically a fever dream, one of the weirdest experiences you can have. You’ll end up in STRANGE PLACES, trapped inside your own dream (maybe nightmare?).

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Almost all from the scracth , only the camera and movement controls reutilized from my older projects

This is a very interesting and unique game! It definitely fits the theme very well. Also, the black creature that follows me reminds me of Baldi. Mostly because of the clapping noise that happens whenever it appears.

Thank you for the review!

Very interesting game. I liked the no tutorial, just walk around and figure it out. I miss that in games nowadays. The little bit of test you had in the top left was nice incase you got stuck.
Great work.. I played the entire way through and was hoping for a few more floors. :D
Very cool ideas and super Strange Places... great work on the theme!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing all the way through and for the thoughtful feedback! I’m really glad you enjoyed, happy to hear the little text hints helped too.

 Really appreciate your kind words!

The sense of unease is done really well. You really could have made the story clearer, but it's good enough as it is. the puzzles were fun btw

Developer

Yeah, I can see how the story might be a bit hard to follow. Thanks for the comment!

Very cool! It is simple in terms of mechanics but its puzzle like elements are quite clear and the sense of uneasiness is well done with the shadow randomly appearing, the words on screen and the music. I honestly quite liked it, the visuals were pretty strong!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed the atmosphere, and thank you for the comment!

Very interesting game to play, it really feels like a fever dream in a good way. The strange areas you travel to as you ascend through the elevator and collect artifacts make each level feel unique and dreamlike. The UI is clean as well. Good job on the game!

Developer

Thanks so much! I’m really glad you enjoyed the fever dream vibe. I appreciate the kind words about the unique levels and UI too!

Very abstract and weird in a good way. I was  a bit confused at the start by the camera jitters but I managed to get to the end. Well done!

Developer

Thank you for the review! Glad you enjoyed it! I know the camera jitter can be a bit too much sometimes (there’s a comfort mode in the settings). Thanks! :D

Hello!"vertical fever" looks like a creative and unique idea!

I'm browsing the site on my mobile device and noticed there are no on-screen controls, so I haven't been able to try the game yet. However, based on the gameplay mechanics, concept, and screenshots you've shared, it looks fantastic, so I've already given you a rating!

Actually, I develop and manage everything from my mobile phone, so unfortunately, I can't play and review other games right now.

Good luck with Jam!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the review! Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to add mobile controls :(

this game somehow reminds me of our game hehe😁 which made it even more interesting to play

I really enjoyed the experience I was a little confused at the beginning but once I got used to the concept and understood the flow it became much more engaging👍

 Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yeah, I just played yours too, and I can definitely see some similarities.

Thank you!

Runs smooth in browser which is always a relief with 1st-person WebGL, so good job there. The floors are interesting to solve too. The first one intrigued me right away. That and the invisible floor room were probably my favorite. Visually, it nails that in-between space.

It's not full horror, not cozy either. More like a dream that starts to feel off the longer you're in it. The chromatic/glitchy effect really helps sell that unstable vibe without overdoing it. And then yeah, that guy popping up randomly absolutely pushes it into nightmare territory for a second. Definitely gives off that uneasy feeling. I also liked how the pace of the text is delivered to you as you go higher, and gives just enough narrative progression. This game is well put together.

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for the thoughtful review. Super happy it ran smooth in-browser. That “in-between dream that turns wrong” tone is exactly what I aimed for, and I’m glad the glitch effect and the random appearance moment landed without feeling overdone.

Oooo this was pretty spooky, I love the subtle visual effects like the shaking.

Developer

Thank you! Glad you liked :D

Very cool experience. The levels felt like liminal spaces and made it a little terrifying :D

The chromatic effect was a bit to much for me, especially because its permanent. I get the idea that it feels like a dream but I think the level design already very well communicated this.

I would love to see more of it :) Very awesome work!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks a lot, glad you liked it :D

And yeah, I agree, the chromatic effect can be a bit much. I added comfort options in the settings (ESC) with less visual effects. Really appreciate the feedback!

This game is so cool ! I like the atmosphere of the game, the graphics effects, and especially the UI which is very clean. Well done ! Also, which engine did you use ? How can it load this instantly ? That's very impressive.

Developer

Thanks a lot, really appreciate it! I made it with Three.js.
It loads fast because the game is very lightweight, and I also built my own level editor for my Three.js games, so the levels are pretty optimized and simple to load.
Glad you liked the UI too! (When the level editor is more complete, I plan to release it here for free.)

Submitted(+1)

Very impressive ! I will look into this technique to make games, and can’t wait for you to publish the level editor
