How does the game fit the theme?
The game fits the “Strange Places” theme by placing players in the role of a priceless ancient idol navigating a chaotic, physics-driven world full of precarious traps and bizarre architecture. Every jump and bounce feels unpredictable, turning the environment itself into a strange, almost surreal playground.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
During the jam we used various SFX + Music tracks. Full credits are posted as a downloadable PDF on the game page.

Our team of four developers created all art, design + code during the timeframe of the jam.

How many people worked on the game?

This was super neat! I gave you a 5 for innovation. It was difficult to move around though. I couldn't tell if I was facing forward or backward so sometimes it was moving everywhere lol. But the chaos also added to the fun for sure. Nice job!

this is so impressive and art look beautiful. But it is so hard to control. Also is there any way to maximize the window?

Heya! Amazing work here! I really enjoyed playing it. Even though the chaotic controls are clearly intentional, if I may suggest one small tweak, it might help to add a subtle hint of which direction the idol is facing. It could make things a bit clearer without losing the intended chaos. Overall though, great game!

Very good theme! Sound effects are funny and enviroment is very good! Just its little hard and sometimes controls confuse me like when idol turns. Otherwise very creative and good game!

What a nice game! I had fun and visualy beautifull 😍 But it's me or it is REALLY hard ? (I'm so bad)

Great work creating all of this in a week. The environment is fantastic, though there was an odd effect when the idol went behind an object it made a chequed pattern (maybe this was deliberate?).

I'm not generally a fan of platformers, particularly ragey ones like this, but this was well put together and enjoyable. The one issue I found was that when the idol stood up and I pushed W to make it roll forward again it would go in a bit of a random direction, sometimes backwards from the direction I'd just been going, and then fall off a platform.

Overall a great start. You could definitely flesh this out to a full game.

Omg. THE VISUAL IS A CLASS. Great work i see there. This game deserves a lot! Really liked the movement mechinacs

When first spawning in, even just going in the direction I want feel like an impossible challenge, but you learn to control the Idol quite quickly. Very well executed Rage Game xD Sounds and visuals also felt very cohesive and complete, great job. It did run a bit laggy for me in the browser unfortunately.

Post your times in the comments!  If you get sub 5mins you get a well done,  If you get a sub 2mins you get a very well done and if you get sub 1:30mins ill be very surprised!   I managed to get 54 secs and thats the fastest so far.  SEE IF YOU CAN BEAT THAT!

Developer

We'll be absolutely GOBSMACKED if you get under 1 minute, and perhaps as a reward you can get a pat on the head?

Love the art! Beautiful vibe, colors and polish (fun menu transition into game). <3

And I wish I could experience more of the level as it is interesting, with multiple paths, seems like strong level design! But I must admit I didn't get too far, I couldn't get a good handle of the tank controls. I have to echo what others are saying that it's a bit too hard, in a frustrating unintuitive way. But this is easily ironed out now with this playtest!

Amazing work in only a week! Happy to read an update is coming, I'd love to check it out when it does.

Developer

Thank you for the compliments for the art!  We did want to go a little ambitious. Our team are thinking of continuing the project for our masters course.

Level design looks great! That's very cool that you managed to make so much good 3d art in one week!

It was fun to play, but kinda hard to move around, also maybe camera sensitivity is a bit too high?

Developer(+1)

Brilliant! Thanks for the kind words.  We are going to adapt the game in the future.   We played your game aswell and it looked amazing!

I really like the looks and visuals of the game

I felt like the controls were a bit wonky and hard to use intuitively which made it hard to fully get into it.

But overall the game looks great, the polish, the voice acting, and the concept.

Good job!

Developer

Thanks very much for the compliments!

I really enjoy the music and game feel is awesome only thing that can be improved is  controls are very hard and also the camera sensitivity is so high otherwise the game is amazing.

why is the camera sensitivity so high?! i barely move my mouse and it goes crazy.  i get that its a rage game but thats just unplayable

Love a good rage game. Also the voice acting was awesome.

Level design is great, visuals look awesome, it lags a bit? Maybe just me, but that kind of made me quit. The rolling mechanics work great, but man is the game hard! Nice game overall

It's super impressive that you were able to make a polished game with a cohesive art style and such a detailed environment in just one week! The concept of controlling a tube and trying to get a hang of its physics to navigate through obstacles definitely has a balance of frustration and satisfaction as you learn the controls. For what is clearly going for a rage game, I do think having some more consistent rules over how to control the player would have improved this game. It never clicked why pressing forward (W) made the idol flop to the side, and then holding backwards would then make him roll forward, and then holding forward would switch to making it roll in the opposite direction. For a physics based game, having the buttons not correspond to what you would expect to be realistic definitely makes the game harder to get into. It makes sense that you wouldn't want the player pressing forward and then flopping down in a position where they'd be forced to then rotate themselves, but there's probably a better way that could possibly involve additional keys. But once you get the hang of it, there's definitely potential here for an interesting game!

Thanks for sharing! Had a fun time with this, the artstyle is so well done and I am impressed with how well it ran in browser! The physics based gameplay is challenging and at times I was a bit confused which button would take me forwards and which would make me move back (Maybe a skill issue on my end lol). Anyway pretty happy with the final time of 7 mins and 1 second.

Thanks for playing, and well done on your time! It takes me a good five minutes to do a run sometimes and I did a lot of playtesting haha. Really enjoyed your game too : )

This game made me feel like a complete idiot 10/10
banging the idols head against the wall while trying to learn the controls was hilarious.

The controls are "hard to learn, hard to master" which I thought was a bit frustrating at the beginning. Normally, one would expect "easy to learn, hard to master" type of thing but regardless, it was really fun to play. Eventually you get the hang of it and when you start to progress through the game, it gives a similar vibe to "getting over it" type of rage game, which is the exact thing that hooked me into. It was challenging and addictive.

Also loved the visuals. The team did a fantastic job.
