It definitely fits perfectly with the idea of a strange place, with more and more changes, becoming stranger and stranger. I really enjoyed this game. It took me a little while to notice the subtle changes in the environment and also to realize that it was actually getting dark, and not just because the character said so. I appreciated how subtle the changes was. The art style is beautiful, and the music blends in perfectly to create a mysterious atmosphere.

Loved the art style! Such simple strokes but they capture the mood perfectly. I'll have to replay it though--spot the difference and I have a complicated relationship....

The art style looks cool and I really liked the atmosphere and overall idea. However I did not fully understand what the goal was.

It's beautifully drawn!

Developer

Thank you, I’m glad you like it!

I always love handpainted games, so the visuals are 5. I did find it kind of weird, when the day changed, and whenever I found something, even if i did find the difference (I think?) it did pretty much the same. But cool concept nonetheless. Good job!

Developer

I guess u found the bug, when the player interacts with two or more objects at once, it can trigger the wrong response. I've actually fixed it already (the game prioritizes modified objects now), but I don't want to update the game while voting is still ongoing, cause this is not game breaking bug.

The game was neat, especially the art style, reminded me of I'm on observation duty. However, the "Bruh" really kills the immersion

I liked the visuals of this game. Confining it to a small area means you could really focus on what was in the one or two screens.

I was confused about what would trigger the next day to happen. I couldn't see the changes in the scene and didn't want to randomly guess and lose, but then it timed out and I lost anyway. I  also didn't know if it would move on even if I had found all the things to find, and how many there were to find each day.

That aside, the visuals and sound were great and really fitted the environment. It was also definitely strange and getting stranger!

I didn't like the font, but that's a minor point. Overall good work.

Cool visuals and the music - they make an atmosphere The game has some kind of intrigue and I was curious to see what will happen next:)

Enjoyment: I had fun - I played twice. First time I've got eaten by the twisted forest and the second time I succeeded. Nice touch for replayability, that there is no fixed order of changes or number of changes.

Gameplay: Easy controls and the goal is communicated quite well, what I am/was missing a bit, was the communications of the rules a bit. I got it, that you got an amount of guesses that you can be wrong before you lose the game. What I did not get is, if I did not get all clues for the current round does the clock run out or does it take away "wrong guesses" aswell? Also while not really dramatic since its really short wait, but the bridge between game start and first round also felt a bit uncommunicated. But those points are really only small critiques, nothing game or immersion breaking.

Innovation: Personally for me this is one of the more unique approaches in the jam (so far I've had the chance to play entries) and overall, at least considering my backlog of gaming catalog. And I can see how you can implement more unique twist to it.

Theme: I like the implementation of the theme, which is not only depicted in the settings of the strange forest but also in the main mechanic that you have to keep an eye on the strangely placed objects and how they change. Good job.

Visuals: Very detailed and consistent art usage, only thing to improve what comes to mind, would be replacing the standard unity sliders, maybe a suitable font for the story bits, but I know that was also neglected cause of the missing time for further polish.

Audio: Nice calm and gameplay supportive track. I read in the comments that the menu was implemented in a last minute effort, so you probably know this, but having a track to adjust the volume settings is useful (even if you reuse the track in the game itself).

Nevertheless great innovative submission and great job creating all assets from scratch, we also committed to that practice and you can tell the difference!

Developer

Wow, thank you for such detailed feedback! We’re really happy that our project brought you so much enjoyment. :)

That was pretty fun! I didn't understand it at first but started getting the hang of it as the rounds went by. Though with this atmosphere, it makes me suspicious... did I really win or is the forest telling me I did :O

Very coolio! Overall fun concept and the aesthetic is actually pretty nice! You should check our game as well!

The vibes are there, i love the style, i do kinda wish the text font was a better match for the art style though!

What does the fox say? "Stones, nice" apparently haha
Cute game!

I would love to see <Skip button/fastforward> but your game has so low text that I am not sure if its necessary.

Sound:

1 ... I loved the sound & even after pattern repletion, it didn't felt like it was in the way

2 ... There is no sound in menu, is this a bug (or I am glitching somewhere)?

Visuals:

1 ... Text with simple animation with your bg sound fits well together (maybe build game around that)

Developer

Nah, there's no sounds in the menu. We focused mostly on the game, so the menu was a bit of a rush job at the very end.

the art and music are really lovely and I really wanted to solve the mystery! good work making an engaging game! I couldn't quite figure out when I found the available clues in a round and it was sometimes hard to tell what object I was investigating. overall, nice work!

Love the art style, the style reminds me of dont starve.

Fun! Had a hard time finding some stuff and it's hard to know if you've found everything.

Submitted(+1)

Nice one! You got a cool concept going in this one, wish it was longer. It's always interesting when an "enemy" is something other than a regular "bad guy", thumbs up from me :D

Cool game! I reaaaaaaaally enjoy it. The place is strange for sure, but I felt really relaxed, probably due the beautiful drawing the game has. I wanna know more lore, poor fox, is he okey? Good work with this game. I feel you can understand the game without tutorial, the only thing is the first change, because you are not ready for it so you don't really memorize everything.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

The fox’s story will be developed further! :)
Just like the project itself. Now we have a bit more time to work on it. The first level will probably be a bit easier once we introduce changes in the future, to help players better understand the goal of the game and what can actually change. Thank you for the feedback!
