That was.... definitely an experience. Some games weren't actually that clear with control scheme even though the description promised this (like jump button in a platformer game, but I guess you can quickly bruteforce it through a range of most used buttons in platformer games, but then what's the point of the top HUD 👀)
Other than that, very neat recreation of a bunch of different genres. I'm impressed, considering you've managed to do it in a week, even though I could probably point out a bunch of nitpicks for every one of them 🙃
Big fan of the visuals and the background work! (also the itch.io page goes crazy)
Thanks! I forgot about the space key hint in the platformer. Idk why - maybe because it seemed too obvious to me, hahahaha
We’re crazy and working full-time - you can check our GitHub. And the final game looks impossible to make in a week, even for us!
Pretty fun, though like others, I got stuck on the platforming section. Left-Shift is a pretty inconvenient choice, lol. If it supported right shift or enter or mouse click or some other distinct key as well, maybe I coulda got through it, but I was accidentally toggling caps lock, or swapping instead of jumping, etc. (As I see it, it's easier to keep similar actions together, so if swapping could be on another hand, it'd be easier.) Like others, I didn't really enjoy playing through the entire platforming section over and over. But it was amusing to jump on Rhino Toasterino.
Anyway, it was helpful showing the key binds at the top of the screen. The game ran pretty smoothly, sounds were fun (fortunately the gunshot sound for the flappy pacman section was short :) and the silly graphics and hand-wipe were fun to look at.
I’ve never played a game before.
This was really well made. I got stuck on the hotline miami-esque level because I kept dying and eventually had to throw in the towel. The difficulty spike was a little much but also I've never played those types of games, so I might just be bad at them. Really enjoyable experience!
Yeah, should've made it easier. A lot of people get stuck on it. Golden pistol in the boss room can actually help a lot, it has infinite bullets
Premium shitpost, nailed the feeling of watching Adult Swim at 3am. Also, premium off-topic reference. Literally my only quabble is that I wished the platformer had checkpoints.
Also, I love toaster-rhino and hope he has a nice life.
Glad you liked it. The guy's name is Rhino Toasterino
This game is recommended to all hardcore games fans.
I'm crying.
Thanks! The hardest parts are mine. During development they were a bit harder, but my friends talked me out of it. I think that’s my problem - all my games have parts that are this hard, haha
Very fitting for the theme. My favorite part is the retry transition hand. More checkpoints would be appreciated to counter the difficulty on some parts.
Hand transition is my favorite part too! And it was easy to make - just a screenshot taken before the defeat state that returns you to the latest state. And yes, more checkpoints would be nice. I think if we'd had a bit more time, I would have added them, but we were sleepy and focused on designing the itch page at the end 😋
Very nice. That little fella was quite difficult to control because is floaty but it was probably designed to be like that
An exciting, chaotic little ride that pays homage to some great games. Guys who made this confidently weave in what they love, having fun along the way, delivering an equally fun and good-looking experience for the player.
Yeah, and the ending is cinema ngl.
10/10 for handmade non AI brainrot experience.
amogus
aboba
The ending was phenomenal
Truly a fever dream, absolute cinema
Besides the difficultity spikes I have 0 complaints
