I loved learning the rules as I played, it was pretty gratifying. OK I must admit that I spammed and discovered it can completely crush performances :D.
It's relaxing and beautiful, GG!
Simply beautiful. It's a little like Viva Pinata but way more relaxed, amazing job!
Thank you so much!
Very nice, cozy and cute game! Btw how did you make the reflection in the water? :D
Thanks! The water is not actually too complicated. First you draw whatever you want reflected into a canvas, in my case it's the ground, trees and birds. Then you flip that upside down and pass it through a water distortion shader. Then there's a bit of tint to make it blue-ish. I followed this post from the Kingdom developer https://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=40539.msg1104986#msg1104986
Super beautiful and ambient! Very nice!
10 out of 10 birds would play this again... very nice and cozy, reminds me of home 🥰
Beautiful art! A very comfy and cute game that fits the autumn vibe perfectly! Great job :)
Really comfy vibes for the comfy game jam ^^
I really like the art style and the audio used on the game
This is really gorgeous and the level of polish is amazing. The reflections in the water are especially beautiful. Everything just comes together to create a lovely atmosphere. My minor criticisms are that I didn't realise the camera could move so I thought I couldn't beat the game when I ran out of space so I restarted the game for more efficient tree placement lol. (my fault for missing controls in description) This might be just me but I would like if there were slight constraints to encourage a bit of satisfying strategy in the vein of something like Terra Nil. But I may be trying to apply gameplay to an experience that doesn't really need it because I had a lovely time regardless. I agree with others that it could be a release as it is. Thanks for sharing your game!!
Thank you so much for this message, I really appreciate it. You're not the only one that had trouble figuring out you could move the camera, there really was nothing to indicate you could other than the game page.
I had the same feeling about more strict placement, it originally was more like Islanders where you had bonuses and penalties depending on what was adjacent to what you were placing, but it felt off. In the end I went with the super chill just placing things, and I'm very happy with the result. I'm now sketching out what a full release would look like, as I really enjoyed making it and feel like there's potential for more.
This was so nice to play! The art is soooo nice and the overall experience was super polished,, great work!!
Really amazing little sandbox eco sim, this feels like it could be a small release as it amazing job!
Really fantastic. I have no real notes other than that, just a great little game.
I can't get over how good the reflection looks! Great submission!
What a beautiful game, gorgeous visuals, amazing sound design, and very fun and relaxing gameplay. Fits the comfy theme so well. One of my favorite submissions for sure, amazing work! Bonus points for using Love2d too!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it :)
martin.
this game is almost too beautiful.
from the moment i started and saw the pretty lake reflection to LITERALLY EVRY ACTION in the game is supported by a comfy beautiful feeling with intentional visual and sound effects
the gameplay seems simple but you really nailed it!, i really love the subtle hints that is given in a non forceful way, still allowing for the player to clue into the bird's nesting conditions, while still allowing for progressive disclosure if they are stuck but letting them know they're still headed in the right direction (ex: ??? condition revealing once the player creates environment for it is great feedback and prevented what I would imagine be potentially frustrating moments otherwise)
i was slightly stressed at first because I was running out of space to plant trees. the only reason i didn't click off then was because I scrolled down to the controls and realized I could simply move the camera with A/D to have more space (which was a VERY FITTING way to deal with that gameplay feeling-wise, rather being able to remove trees LOL)
as many others said, the ambient nature and soundscape, with nature sounds and the meditative soundtrack, created an envelopingly comfortable, serene experience.
but one thing I wanna add is that it really did feel like a lot of love was put into it. like you play it and u go, "omg i can feel his love for birds welcoming me in"
AWESOME WORK
I truly cannot express how much this means to me. Thank you for enjoying the game, but even more so for taking the time to write such a beautiful message. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
The best visuals so far, everything is so immersive and looks so good!
Beautiful art, wonderful audio, very comfy chilled gameplay, super satisfying, overall a beautiful experience. Probably my favourite submission that I've played so far!
Wow this game is beautiful and so peaceful. I LOVE the sound that the trees/bird make when you place a big tree. SOOOOO satisfying. Amazing art and audio. Super well done and very good entry!
A very meditative game, just what you need to relax after playing my game )
Hahaha definitely different vibe games.
this was super refreshing to play.
Thanks!
I love the parallax effect with the water in the foreground it gave me a bit of a Kingdom Two Crowns feel, but more freedom and sandbox like. Turning that into a game about rebuilding bird habitats is such a unique twist, too.
I was also curious about the bird sounds. are the different calls tied to the specific species you unlock? if not i could really imagine hearing a really nice sound design based on bird calls. Overall, this was super calming and charming to play. Great job thanks for sharing your hard work!
You have a very good eye, because I got the water idea from this post by the author of the Kingdom series https://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=40539.msg1104986#msg1104986
Each bird you discover through the journal is based on a real bird: the bird call that sounds when it first unlocks (and every time it spawns thereafter) is from a real bird, and the sprite is drawn from pictures of those birds (with some creative licenses). Unfortunately once you advance the background bird sounds kind of drown the newly spawned birds, so you can only really tell on the first few. Late in development I thought of being able to track which bird is which with the journal, to have a bit more context, but it went way our of scope.
Thank you so much for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
