I made a video of your game! It's at the 22:26 mark of this video.
Thank you! I saw it on Discord. Always feel so surreal to see someone try out the game!
The character design was truly excellent. I particularly loved how the sheer size difference between the protagonist and the enormous creatures was palpable during their interactions... Unlike Yume Nikki, it wasn't a looping map, but I thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of being utterly overwhelmed by the spaces themselves.
Thank you so much!
Oh my, how well made game. Like firstly, just the mechanically it was impressive, controlled smooth, camera was working amazing, animations, interactions, all of those little things that you are meant to forget in games were present and working so nicely, felt so polished. Secondly, I'd say everything else too, but let's be a bit more specific. Huge respects for being able to make a like full game like this in week, the story and all. It was quite interesting and I enjoyed the exploration of it all, reminded me a lot of Yume Nikki the way each room/world were presented and built. Graphics were also really nice, I quite like the simpler 3D look with some nice visual effects. So like, to end my endless yapping; great work here!
Oh and also, bonus respect for the Caesar cipher lol. Saw it and instantly recognized I want to decipher it, even if it was like flavor text(? you could say), still I always do enjoy randomly seeing stuff like that heh.
Ahhh I think you might be the first person to notice that! I just thought I’d put something there for the audience instead of just gibberish. Thank you so much for the nice comments. I think your game is so polished! I hope we’ll be able to catch up to you in game development skills.
This game was really enjoyable. The art and environment design were my personal favorites, though the story follows close behind. The dreamy atmosphere and surreal nature of the gameplay was really unique. I think the changing viewpoints were a little weird and made the movement feel off at times, but outside of that the camera was good. Really unique game you have here and good job!
Thank you for the nice comments! Your game has a very unique look as well.
WOW that was so cool
My biggest fear when playing any game rooted in surrealism with a really concrete visual style is that the story will be altogether too vague (or come across as condescending in a way) however this was a very pleasant surprise, the story felt entirely understandable in a way that still came across as creative and matched how the game presented itself !! It has a very strong identity throughout that I'm a big fan of, and I just adore the character designs
(also love what you did with the camera, I love a game that occasionally changes it's viewpoint)
The absolute biggest critique I could give it is an overall lack of a horror vibe, but who really cares when the rest of the game is dripping with style anyway !
Thank you! Yeah, that’s exactly what I wanted with the story. A lot of surreal experiences while sick tend to come across as too vague, or the weird world doesn’t have much interaction. I wanted to include even more dialogue in this game, and we might still do so after an update.
Not trying to promote or anything, but in our main game, ./DreamON, I really want to create a world where there are NPCs who talk and tell stories while still being in a surreal environment. So I’m really glad you liked our story! Also, your game was one of my favorites in the jam too, so hearing you say this makes me very happy.
PROMOTE AWAY I just had a look at the games Kickstarter page and it looks really cool !! I'm glad to see you're working on a main project in a similar style to Goodbye Page
Oh man the Kickstarter is so outdated. I really gotta update that lol
I like all the unique interactions you can make in this game, even all the four chairs at the start have different dialogues. It also gets good as I progressed through the game. Every element is carefully well-thought of and delivered. Excellent job , love this game.
Thank you! We wanted to add even more dialogue, but didn't have time! Maybe during post jam updates!
There is a lot I liked about this game: the dialogue portraits and avatars reminding me of a Paper Mario game, the writing is really impressive, the dialogue keeps me wanting more and actually wanting to interact with everything, the environments looking so clean, and everything else was just so good. This game also really kept me invested which is more than I can say for other games in this jam. Congratulations to everyone who worked on this, fantastic work!
Thank you so much! My friend and I are very happy to hear this! I always say this, since this is our first game released to the public, we never knew how people would respond to our unusual ideas. My ideas have just been in a random Google Doc for so long that it was very hard for me, at least, to imagine how people would like them. My friend also had to try to convert those ideas into actual coded gameplay, so it is a huge compliment to us to hear that you enjoyed it so much. It really does motivate both of us.
I Experienced A Few Graphical Bugs, But Overall The Story Was Cool, The Characters Looked Good, And There Was Tons Of Great Music. I Wish Maybe The Character Could Walk A Little Faster, But Overall Great Job.
Thank you! We'll try to fix the bugs after the release. I can't believe the Candlekeep is here, though. Chat, is this real?
Love the character design and general aesthetic. The story is quite intriguing and it unfolds in a very good way, I love the concept of the world of Oneiros. The dialogues themselves were well written and I loved interacting with stuff to discover more along the way! Great music as well
Amazing project overall, congrats <3
Thank you! Welcome to a small piece of Oneiros. We want to create much bigger worlds for you to explore.
I'm a sucker for the adventure through dream-like landscape genre. While I prefer a dream game to be more incoherent, experiencing one with clear and purposeful writing is also a nice change of pace. In fact, you guys did an awesome job making it feels like a dream while keeping things coherent. If there's anything to nitpick it would be how the conversation with the Orb at the end felt a bit like an exposition dump. Good luck with ./DreamON, looking forward to playing it!
Thank you! First person to mention ./DreamON here!
It's a very interesting game.
Its story is a bit stream-of-consciousness and quite profound.
The protagonist is cute yet elegant, and the geometric design shows great creativity, with symbolic meanings well worth exploring!
Thank you! We had a lot of fun making the geometry room!
I love the aesthetic! The puzzles confused me at first, but they're not impossible. I hope you pursue this game further, really good work!
Thank you! I’m guessing you’re referring to the white room?
Good story and cute visuals. I like it.
Thank you!
this one felt very poignant and creative!! Not very horror themed but I still had a great time playing it and that's what matters. also orb get owned by facts and logic.
Thank you! Orb is very new to human kind.
Good game!!
I really like the style and the protagonist’s design. I also think the themes of the story are really good, the comparison between you as a person and the geometric figures was really cool.
Thank you! We are really glad you enjoyed the story!
Poignant story, and really evocative music, there's definitely a lot of themes going on in the story that i didn't understand haha, this is a great game, even if it isn't necessarily horror themed, really felt like a 3D RPGMaker game.
Thank you, Adam from Clandestine Company, for taking time off from lifting papers to play our game.
Also, don't worry about the story thing, lol. Maybe I should have made it a bit more in-your-face. I'm thinking about that for post-jam updates.
