The blank spaces at the end is genius! I love the tweening you used for the pen, I need an extension for my browser that does that haha, so satisfying

Although quite simple, it's amazingly executed. Great entry.

Absolutely fantastic theme interpretation.

Wow, I'm surprised how impactful writing the words yourself is. I feel like if this mechanic was used in a longer narrative game it could be heart wrenching.
It really makes you focus on the poetry and not rush through the narrative too fast. It also makes it easier to follow along the intended story since you have to write it yourself.

Incredibly touching for such a short length.

Very creative, loved the text

Really interesting story, and I like the way the words get scratched out by the end. I thought it would to be nice to be able to type as the words were appearing, although now I realize it might change the feel of the game since its supposed to be about the "weight of words."

Nice entry!

Good for practicing your writing speed :D Nice story, and I like the clever implementation of gravity!

Love the atmosphere!

I have gone through something that allowed me to absolutely resonate with this. I do not have much to say but thank you for making this. I pray everything works out in the end for you. Much love. Frankie.

Really interesting interpretation of the theme! I like how you used tweens here! :D I'm not really into visual novels, so I kind of missed some elements that could ''dilute'the gameplay a bit. From a gameplay perspective, it felt a bit like a 'keyboard piano' :D

Anyway, great work on both the technical side and the theme interpretation!

i couldn't get the mac version to work, but from the other comments it looks like it was a good one. :)

Developer

Ahh sorry to hear it, I have Windows so that's the only version I'm able to verify works 🥲 Mac/Linux I just hit export in Godot and hope for the best.

Just curious, can Macs not run the web export of the game? Part of me thought having an HTML version of the game meant anyone could play it regardless of the machine they had if they just go to the game's page itself.

it let me launch it and click "begin" but then it didn't let me do anything on the "keyboard for input" part, so the game stopped for me there. i'm hoping someone else will get it to work and then tell me how :D

the aesthetic was great; fun visual stuff, including the letters increasingly obscuring the screen, and then having to puzzle out what the last sentence was... neat stuff! you transcended the game jam - it does not have the correct rating categories for you, so I pretended that it had things like "feels" and rated accordingly (5/5 :P)

Developer

Thank you for the really kind words! Also yeah haha, I feel a little awkward knowing players are being tasked with rating the "Fun" and "Gameplay" of my little thing that's functionally just an interactive animation lol

Just wow.

Maybe not wow gameplay, maybe simple graphics, but the intensity and rawness of the feelings that this game manages to convey are fantastic.

You sir touched my soul. Bravo!

Developer

That's very flattering to hear, thank you!

Saw the title and was immediately sold!

Brilliant theme implementation

Developer

Thank you :)

It is really deep and emotional, I really loved how you interpreted the theme. It was not fun... more of a love letter, I believe that was intentional. I feel sad now :d Good job!

Also I would be happy if you can play and give feedback to our game: GravLine

LOVEEE the art and sound!

Developer

Thanks! Boiled-line aesthetic is my goto when I'm on a big time crunch 😅 it feels like a really cheap and efficient way to make the game feel more alive/dynamic than it might actually be haha

Submitted(+2)

I loved it! I'm always amazed at how the same theme can be interpreted in so many different ways and this seemed brilliant to me. Congrats on it cause it looks so poolished for just a bit more than a day. :D

Thank you! I'm really happy with how the pen movement came out. It's awesome realizing how much visual polish you can get in basically for free if you know how to utilize damped oscillation math haha

Submitted

I'd like to know what damped oscillation math is and how can I use it in my games? PS: Really enjoyed the game ^^

I can't find the resources I originally used when looking into it, but I did find this which seems pretty good as a jumping-off point:
