How does the game fit the theme?
In TURN UP DA HEAT, you're constantly seeing how much risk you can take before it becomes too much - by turning knobs, you increase your risk but also your reward! With this game, we want to push how many times the player will have to restart before they decide they're risking too much.
Additionally, the player is collecting casettes from the band Floppy Bizqit - a 90s classic. The skate park aesthetic of our game drives the point home.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Some code was inherited from our personal boilerplate project. All assets were from scratch.

Hello!

Those visuals are so damn cool and i love how consistent your theme is!

The main character looks so cool and the animations are SO NICE and solid and fun! (the attack animation is so cool!)

The art of the game even to the button design is so nice.

I was also running into the same bug mentioned in the comments. I ended up doing what you suggested it and played it on incognito.

I really liked how you integrated "risk" into the system of your game and it feels very fitting to the theme itself which is rly cool!

level design was rly nice especially level 9!

Music is awesome too and fits so well!

Thank you for your hard work!

A couple people have posted this,  but I have not been able to replicate it. If you could show me what you're doing I might be able to get a fixed build up.

Same thing happened to me, I could go into the first level but since the controls only allowed me to turn the knob up and down for whatever  reason, I reset my browser. The image here is what's shown in the level menu when opened again in the game (I'm on chrome).

Developer

Huh, that is super bizarre. What this indicates is that you somehow set your score on level 1 to a negative number, making the game think it isn't unlocked. I'd try to either reset your browser cookies somehow or to open the game in an incognito tab / another profile or something. Apologies! Will definitely include a "reset save data" button in my next jam submission.

Unfortunately, as long as you're hitting return to properly move through the menu, I can't tell you why you were unable to move. Hopefully if you open another window it won't be the case.

Very cool concept! One problem I had, though, is that tuning the reward system seems to kill me instantly. Is it supposed to do that?

Developer(+1)

Are you turning up the time limit knob all the way until you have a time limit of zero? That would definitely kill you. Sorry if that wasn't entirely clear!

You were right!, sorry did not notice how the time decreases on the scale, updated rating!

Thanks!

Very good concept! I liked the idea of trading time for ressources (we went the same path =p), it's an interesting take on the theme! The art and music are really good, they setup the atsomphere greatly ^^.

The controls are weird, and I got stuck in the "tuning" menu several times., and "Z" to attack is really weird. The camera could also have a bit of work: in the second level, for example, we don't see what's below us, so we must take a leap of faith in the spikes.

Overall a great concept that need a little bit of refining, but still a good entry, congratulations =)!

Love the concept! I think it could be really fun but the controls did not feel great.

Very cool artwork! I like the mechanic of determining difficulty as well. Although I will say I think level design could be a bit better. All levels felt way too short for me. Other than that, amazing game!

Great game! I like how you can manipulate the levels to gain a reward, risking it all in the process. Amazing view on the theme!
