Interesting, this one. The day/night cycle felt REALLY aggressive, but I think that was the point, to generate a sense of urgency to get supplies and preparations done quickly.

I sadly have to echo the sentiments of the others with being confused as to what to do. I understand the time constraints of the jam and scope creep perhaps getting the better of you. Heck it happened to me and in trying to add more features, I broke my game and couldn't fix it in time to submit.

A hard lesson I'll keep in mind for the next game.

You know I'm a sucker for SummerWeen!

Many have already echoed this, but a tutorial would help a ton here. I think your hand held canvas that shows all the tents is a great idea, but if you want users to have constant feedback from a game mechanic, it probably would have worked better as a set of big TV displays that the player could easily look at.

I do appreciate the Fuel and Bullets being Shrimpos 🤣.

I couldn't figure out the levers as well. Maybe they turned on light that would attract Zombies, but also help Campers put out fires so there was a balancing mechanic?

I think scoping this down a bit would have helped. There are great ideas in this, but there are so many and the playfield is so big, that it's hard to navigate them all without some sort of guidance at the beginning.

It's a great submission! I'm excited to see what you cook up next. If you made a SummerWeen game, I hope you'll be joining in the Halloween Jam!!!

Since the game mechanics are so extensive, there is no time left to make tutorials 🥹 Of course I will join the Halloween Jam 🥳 Thank you for your feedback

The same happened to me. I spent what time I had on the jam building out all the mechanics and got to the end and thought "Oh no..... there's no TUTORIAL!?" 🤣

Sorry, I tried my best, but I couldn't figure out what was going on or how to play. I couldn't figure out what those levers were for, or why there was the zombie that walking in place outside of the main tent. The hot dog people confused me - are they supposed to protect the tent? It was so dark. I was able to load the gun with a few bullets, but then the game was over. A tutorial, video, or even just more detailed text in the description page would help.

You're right, it would be much better if there was a small tutorial section, or if it appeared like the one in your game at the beginning. Trying to add too much left no time for the core stuff. Thanks for playing :)

Like Ian, I also had trouble figuring out what to do. There were a lot of options, guns, switches, zombies, ammo, progress bars and the 40 second timer was a bit to fast for me to take everything in. Perhaps a button that "starts" the day so that you have time to take in your surroundings and figure out what you need to do and prepare before the run actually starts would be a good addition. That a long with a structured tutorial or even pop ups with explanations of what the player should be doing would make the whole experience much smoother. I think all the pieces for a great game are there, it's just not clear what the goal is.

You're right, I haven't had time to show you how to use it since I've been so focused on developing the mechanics. As you said, it would be better if there was a button on the payout UI screen that said "next day." Thanks for playing :)

Nicely put together, I enjoyed playing that! :)

Admittedly, it was a bit confusing to start with, lots of things presented to me without instructions, then night time kicked in and I was unprepared - there are a few elements in there I wasn't sure how they worked at the start. Like the tent switches, and the solar panels and battery outside, the ammo and bottles of stuff.

Night time fell and I failed, several times... I wasn't sure what to do. I saw hot dog people run to the tents and the tent bars were going down, but I didn't see what was causing it or what to do to stop it.

After a few runs, I worked out how to load the gun and found that the zombies were coming in at the back of the tents (I didn't see them the first few times) and shooting them seemed to work and I didn't fail anymore. I was then presented with a matrix of numbers and a cash value - which I saw as a win! Also, the hot dog guys all grouped together in one place and seemed to be having a good time too :)

I did have fun playing it and it looked great too. After the initial confusion, I did manage to survive the night waves - but there's still a lot of elements that I'm not sure how they work.

Thank you for your feedback Ian :) I learn a lot of things (especially user experience) your comments :)
