Hello! Even if for me the game didn't start with the best impression (clashing artstyle between books and map) I slowly fell in love with the game main puzzle and was very eager to find the right items to defeat that evil snake. Good job!

If you want to check it out again, here's the VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2534538387

Thanks Waldorf for sticking through to the end. It was humbling seeing you struggle through the interface, but I am glad it worked out in the end

Super unique art style! I like the idea of figuring out clues in the world and assembling what you need to succeed. I really wish the inventory system was easier to understand. I think either a click-and-drag system or at least more highlighting to indicate what is “selected” would go a long way. I found myself very frequently confused as to whether I needed to left or right click, and sometimes it seemed like the same button did a different action (probably because something was secretly selected).

I also think visual feedback when your mouse is hovered over an interaction point and what to expect it to do when you click would be helpful. Things like changing the cursor to be an left/right arrow for changes pages or a “return” arrow if clicking will back you out of whatever you have open.

I absolutely could not figure out how to combine the gemstones with the crown (which I think was something I was supposed to do) or how to combine the colored water with the clothes (never found a bucket, and the workbench didn’t seem to do anything). I tried many combinations of having the items in my various inventory slots and various ways of clicking on the workbench, but eventually had to give up due to lack of success or feedback.

One more note though, I think it is super cool that you have a fully voice acted game for the jam!

thanks for the awesome feedback..

as mentioned somewhere else here, Yes,… I am not proud on the inventory management, and should have taken more time to polish that. Same for user interface feedback, like sounds and highlights…

it's surprising to see a narrative puzzle game in this jam but im not against it.
first of all the style gets top marks from the voice over, to the artstyle to the overall atmosphere, only issue being that the artstyle can be hard to read gameplay-wise and a window scaling bug which maintains a 1080p window on a 1440p monitor.

the gameplay is basically an escape room of finding the combination of items that'll let you win/escape.
narratively the information and hints you get towards what to craft are really clever, and i understood what i needed to do, but the biggest roadblock was knowing which exact version of the items i needed, so currently i havent yet beat the game.
The inventory management is quite confusing to be honest, with the whole contextual left/right click and what're you holding, when drag and drop would likely make everything overall simpler.

overall though, i really like the game and it's atmosphere but i couldnt figure out the final steps, maybe ill come back another day.

Hey, thanks for the nice words and long feedback.

I totally agree that the inventory management needs a bit of research and then some iteration… it was the first implementation that somehow worked and thus honestly marked finished too early on my list, as I wanted (and had) to continue with other parts of the game…

Great art style, but not exactly my cup of tea gameplay wise.

Developer

Thanks for that. Understand that. I just now noticed the double & in your games name

Hey, thanks for checking out our game! I really liked the art and was not expecting voice lines! I thought the presentation was really good, but I did struggle with swapping stuff in my inventory since sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. Other than that, I really enjoyed your game!

hey, thanks :) I know the inventory is a weak spot…. maybe the most important one. There was so much stuff I needed to do, so I put reworking the ui to the end of the list. Maybe I will get around an interation on that
