It's pretty simple but atmospheric. I do wish there was more feedback and maybe a little challenge added.

I’m so damn rich.

Overall, it’s cool. The mechanics work, but it doesn’t feel cohesive or complete. Maybe even a simple goal of accumulating money would be fine.

The pickaxe is seriously lacking in responsiveness, and it takes a really long time to fire.

It’s also unclear why you need to buy a second Shout and Bomb (I’m assuming it’s a bug or you didn’t have time to finish it). Either remove it from the store, or upgrade the speed/cooldown when you repurchase it.

Another option without generation would be to make the dungeon larger, but not have it regenerate on re-entry. Then you could make the goal of collecting all the gold or something like that. Then it would be interesting to explore and discover new parts of the location

I liked the mechanics and the atmosphere!

Big fan of the gameplay. It’s like open clonk, but without the tedious parts of the gameplay. And for some weird reason the atmosphere reminded me somewhat of Lego Rock Raiders of my childhood. I think it’s the audio. Would be really cool to see a full fledged product.

I see it becoming a solid incremental mining game. Interesting start!

Developer

Thats an interesting vision, but i cant see it. Could you explain it a bit?

Submitted(+1)

Just being able to keep upgrading and going deeper and deeper. Maybe a bit broad with the term incremental, but you are incrementally getting more money to buy incremental upgrades. Excited to see how it turns out

Nice gameplay!

Add ducking + artstyle and you will have a solid base for mini platformer for 1-2h of gameplay.

Good job!

Its pretty playable. I like the atmosphere, cavern ambient with water drops feels nice! Пещера)

However, the game feels rather unfinished in scope.
No character or level designs (or is it intended to play as sketch? A Fancy-Pants, flash style?)

If you really decided to take part of MarathonJam, you can make your own version of Spelanky, but fast-paced and more concentrated.
Imo, its fine to take some tropes from other games but by taking risks and experimenting, you can create your own unique experience.

I see potential in the core gameplay loop!
So good luck with MarathonJam, this might a be great game in the future.

thanks) i think im not going to expand on this game since i dont like the way its heading and i dont see a path to where i want it to be, im going to work on another game for marathon

Its fine! I was in the same situation a lot of times.
Your game just really sparked my game design imagination somehow)

Atmosphere is great! I liked the the scary/horror aspect more than the timed aspect. (I realize that the timed aspect was for the theme. Mining takes way too long though.

Developer

i think mining takes too long is a good thing since it forces you to choose use bombs and potentially die or lose access to pots or safely use pickaxe, but a very slight speed increase could be good

I like your attempt in creating the atmosphere! But I can't say much for the gameplay for now, it's lacking something that makes me stick with it.

Developer

thank you for being honest!

I love the water drop atmosphere :-) There is actually quite a bit done for the short period of this game jam. The idea with the destructible environment seems promising (e.g.when using bombs). I got stuck a few times though.

As per requested on discord, i shall review this honestly . Please do not takes this badly, i want to see you succeed

The atmosphere is great, but thats about all it has going for it. It lacks a central character which makes it difficult to immersive myself in it. It's also missing many QOL/Polishing features such as UI sounds, some textures, coyote timing for the jumps, and just content in general.

This is still very impressive for 3 days however, so please do not get discouraged! If you want to improve this game, consider joining the month long marathon jam that beings on the 9th where you can work on and submit this same game at the end

Developer

thanks for the honest response, i dont know why 90% of people commenting submissions are never saying all the bad stuff. I am really not proud of this and i do not like it and i cant see a path i could expand on it to make it what i wanted it to be. All your critique is very valid, thanks, i just didnt understand the central character part, do u mean just the sprite of the character? im just scared of characters since ive never drawn anything alive or animated, but ill work on it.

I will be taking part in the marathon jam, just with another game that i think has the reason to exist.

But maybe you see a direction this game could be heading to? I just feel like what i intended it to be would just become a worse spelunky

What i meant is, there is no character or personality i can relate to or enjoy playing as. Work to your strengths, i'm not good at animating characters, so the biggest animated character in my game is a robot with treads for feet, so its just a repeated texture and it rotates.

Just because your game may be similar to another does not mean it will turn out the exact same. Design choices and personal preferences will always create a unique game if you're not attempting to 1-1 recreate the other game. Create what you want, not what the people want.

Hi! Congrats on submitting!

This game reminds me a lot of spelunky, but more fast-paced :D. I'd love to see the idea expanded and polished. With some good assets and play cycle I think it has a lot of potential! Also, thanks for being active in the #game-jam channel!

Developer

Thank you. I sadly just couldnt see the path to making this game into what i wanted it to be so i dont know if its worth expanding. Im looking forward to more honest feedback.
