I loved the idea behind it and your art. But indeed, the intro was a little bit slow and the night is a bit too dark. Mayby also give a volume button because the intro was a little bit to loud for my taste, so getting to mute it would be nice.
Nice entry with quite nice pixelart and presentation. I think the core gameloop has potential and the rags-to-riches, or at least rags-to-healthcare, sounds fun. I played long enough to get an idea of the gameplay I think, you gotsome cool elements implemented!
Some feedback if you want to expand on this:
- I think the intro is too slow -letting the player skip the text would make that a better experience
- nighttime is a bit too dark, I can't really see what I'm doing.
- It would be nice if the player house was visually much more distinct. the 'your house' text is only visible from certain positions and very hard to spot at night
- Having to keep a mouse key pressed down to carry items can be bad for accessibility, as some people get repetitive strain hurt from holding keys for long periods of time. I'm not sure this mechanic added much.
- Better ingame communication of how interaction works would be nice. The interaction icons for stealing and interacting look the same, so I didn't understand instinctively that I was looking for a different control here entirely.
- I don't think the police quite worked, it didn't do anything to me despite catching up.
Well done for all this progress in nine days!
Good game! I really like the art. It would be fun to go into the citizens’ houses and steal their belongings. I hoped the toolbox would let me do that, but unfortunately it didn’t. Great work and congratulations on the entry!
Nice graphics!
I kind of wish there was more to do in the game. Also the police system seem to be a little incomplete, unless I happened to discover a way to cheese it and didn't realize.
Aside from that one point the simple gameplay is polished and relaxing to toy around with. Perhaps the loading transitions could have been a little faster.
Good game! I really like the art. It would be awesome to enter the citizens' houses to steal their stuff, haha! I thought the toolbox would let me do that, but sadly not :(. Keep the good work and congrats on the entry!
I couldn't figure what the mechanic was exactly, I could hear cops but I never saw them?
Its pretty alright, I like the idea of the game. Would love to hear more sounds or music while playing, the cop would catch up to me but nothing happened he got to me, where I could just steal in front of him. Maybe your house could be a bit different from the others so that I know I arrived. Otherwise, great start to a game :)
Thank you!! I'm glad you enjoyed it. We're beginners with Godot, we've been programming with Godot for a little less than a year, and the Godot Wild Jam is our second game jam.
Pretty well made, the controls could be easier to use, changing between holding E and Right Mouse Button to do things was a bit strange to get used to. I think your house could stand out a bit more, a different colour or even looking a bit run down to show your financial situation environmentally
Okay, we even tried to highlight her more, but we wanted to convey the idea that the protagonist was an ordinary person, but even so, thank you for the suggestion!!!
Nice game,I find the art work really cool aswell with the day and nght cycle also,it would be nice to have a background music and more SFX
Thank you for the review, honestly we spent very little time worrying about sounds
Honestly, that
hardwaretool store could stand to get knocked down a peg, with how they treat the sick and vulnerable. It's a great game, avoiding the police is super difficult but I love the game. The beginning cutscene is a really nice touch, too. Great job!I like the style. I encountered a few issues: you cannot outrun the cops, possible bug - sometimes the cop does not reset after catching you, it just remains there following you. Also the gray text on the black screen at the beginiing is a little hard to read.
