Took me a while to really understand but after that, LOVED THE CONCEPT, really creative and the puzzles are really clever, Loved the art style too, really solid. Great job :D
100% gonna change the beginning ramp and tutorial after the jam haha. Definitely a consistent feedback on getting started!
Thanks for playing!
Cool and clever design. Love artstyle)
Really enjoyed it!
thanks!
This looks super cool and pretty polished! Gotta be honest, though, I did not understand the systems at all and kept damaging myself. Got stuck very quickly. Not sure if it's just me being stupid, but I think the game could do with a better tutorialization.
haha yea I am regretting not putting slower and thorough tutorial and ramp up on the game! A lot of people are struggling in the beginning!
Once you talk to the person, they give you an 'arrow' rune, which you can equip to the quick bar from the spellbound menu(press x)
Once you have the runes equipped, you can write the rune into the spell sheets on the floor. You can write or erase the rune that's being highlighted with a red square and arrow (which also indicates which rune the sheet is executing)
So for the first puzzle, you will have to write the arrow rune to somewhere before the explosion rune to make the explosion move over by one.
Thanks for playing!
As someone who was watching your initial livestreams of development, I am glad to see how well ur game came out , I loved the implementation of the loop concepts and loved the artwork as well!
thanks for playing and providing such a kind feedback!
Heavily relied on hints even just to get this far. And could not get past here. The artwork is amazing and it fells really polished. This is a quality entry. I think you need to introduce the mechanics a little slower though. There is a lot of content to be taken in and you have a very sophisticated system for 4 days! Really great work!
Also I'd appreciate feedback on my submission if you get a chance!
Oh! And one more thing! I would've really liked to be able to just click and drag elements around the inventory (spellbook)
haha yes! i'm definitely seeing a lot of feedback on slower introduction to mechanics and more direct tutorials! I was a bit greedy in trying to fit everything in.
The idea for that spot you're stuck in is to allow the wind that's naturally there to push you over "diagnoally" to the other side.
Otherwise, thanks for the feedback!
Oh! Okay. I'll have to try again! Thank you!
This is a really cool idea, reminds me of board games like Colt Express where you have to sort of program the actions. Had that nice puzzle design where you feel like a clown at the start and then a genius when you 'get it'. Nice one!
thanks for playing! And yes! I need to make some change after the jam to help players get to "getting it" easier!
Picking up the hazards in the level to use them to remove obstacles and timing it with the loop is a great idea. I think an indicator above the scrolls with how many slots there are in the scroll and which one of them is occupied would help discern the timing a little better. I did also feel like the explosive blast projectile was staying in the air alot after it was done. Great and creative idea, good job!
This is such a unique and creative game! I'm really impressed with what you accomplished in just a four day game jam. The music and art are both fantastic.
It took me a while to figure out what was going on, and I'm not sure I ever fully grasped all the mechanics, but that's probably just me! The pace felt a little slow at times, which might have been related to my confusion. I kept wanting to use my mouse to interact with things, especially the spell book, but it was clear what keys to press.
Overall, great job on a very cool and original concept!
thanks for playing and giving such indepth feedback! It seems like a pretty consistent feedback how the beginning part before "getting it" is very tough for players, so I definitely to improve that first ramp up and tutorial!
I'm an avid stream lurker gonna say this was very good!
Very pretty game!
Was fun following the development of this on Twitch when we had our breaks from our game deving :-D Solid entry!
thanks for playing and voting!
Ehyy! ok so, i reeeaally LOOVE the idea, it was so creative and unique, love the idea of unlocking spells this way, by editing the already existing one, love the graphics and the cutscene when you talk to the man at the start! I must say tho that the commands where pretty confusing imo, most of the times i was dying because i spent time looking at what keys to press, would've loved a more accessible menù to open the spells editor, and also a slower pacing, but it is still a banger man lol, good job!
thanks for playing and letting me know of the struggle you had with the key! Definitely could use accessible menu to help with control setup! I should probably get that setting figured out for next jam! thanks!
Really loved the game, and the concept of loop as well. This game was unique, in my opinion. You were really creative with the concept of spells that you use in the game. Music and art all were awesome. It was hard to figure out what was going on at first, but it became so insanely good. well done ( ̄︶ ̄)↗
thanks for such a nice feedback!
Heey, really nice game. sooooo complex for a jam and (for my brain), one suggestion that i have is that i would love to move the runes in the pages with the mouse. Great game.
thanks for playing! and great idea! yea.. maybe mouse control would've been good!
Streamed to some of your devvlogs on this game and the camera zooming in caught be by surprise, really nice addition.
haha thank you for playing! And yea surprisingly adding that camera zoom really helps with feeling immersed in thes story!
This is fantastic Ezra! It's great to see you submitting to GMTK again!! You did great with this one, I really enjoyed the puzzle element of needing to figure out how I can pick up each rune. I would be very interested to see if you ever expand this game at all :D -Kaylee
thank you Kaylee! I'm so happy to hear that you were able to find the joy of finding runes and solution to the puzzle! Thanks for playing! :)
Very cool concept. The game felt quite complex at first, but as I learned the mechanics of the runes I really enjoyed it and got satisfaction from solving each puzzle. The story made me want to keep going too, even after dying an embarrassing number of times haha.
Great job, had a lot of fun :D
glad to hear you and fun playing! Haha yea... I wasn't sure with all the complexity if I added enough instruction and opportunity to learn, but happy that you were able to find the story and the experience playable and fun!
Thanks for playing!
great work man.🌀
I like your devlogs as well 😃
