I think the others have said similar things about the bugs lol. This is somewhat of a visual novel genre you've picked, a risky genre given the timeframe. The art itself was serving very well. For the gameplay itself, it would help out more if there's an objective displayed somewhere because somehow I went from Day 1 to Day 2 in a blink. Or add / redesign such that you need to interact with the door in order to move to the next room / day. It's a great start of a visual game!
The art for this game was absolutely amazing! I especially loved the title screen art. I also really liked the music. Unfortunately, I did have a few issues with it.
Bugs:
- The player can still move while talking/interacting with the girls
- Sometimes clicking buttons wouldn't register, and I would have to click it multiple times for it to work
- At some point, I think two characters were referred to as "May".
Story:
- The story jumped around quite a bit, which made understanding what was going on very difficult and jarring at times
- There wasn't much time/expansion given to any individual girls to really develop an attachment to them. Games like these thrive on longer and more endearing interactions with the characters.
- All this is very understandable given the timeframe, but for something like this in such a short amount of time, I think it might be better to focus on one girl and flesh out the story with her. Then expand with more girls after the jam period.
Just like I saw someone else say, I think this might be the culprit of having too many chefs in one kitchen. But with some extra time and dedication, I think this could turn into a really cute game if you all decide to continue working on it after the jam!
Found it all a bit confusing honestly, the time skip jumps were pretty jarring, and wandering the halls to find the person to talk too got dull quick.
Also, I think May and Baimon may be merged a bit in a script? May's intro involved a piano that fit Baimon, and at one point, a character with Baimons sprite was referred to as May?
Generally I think this project is a victim of too many cooks in one kitchen. For something of this scale, I think less people working on it make a more consistent final result.
Besides my issues, I liked the music, and the art at the end of the routes was really nice.
I'm going to be up front and say that this isn't really my type of game, but I played through it to the May ending. Hopefully my input is valuable to you. The music was good, but repetitive. Everything seemed to work the way it should and I can't say I encountered any bugs. The art style of the regular dialog box would have looked a lot better if it were closer to the style of the "choice" boxes. There was a not-so-important consistency error where it said it was evening but the clock said it was around 2:30. Like I said not a big deal. Aside from that, good job!
The art style is cool and is an inventive take on the theme. I think some polish could help with the immersion (like some effects on transitions), but it is indeed an ambitious project for a jam. Congrats!
Nice game! This is the first narrative game I've seen in this jam.
Here are some ways it can be improved (mostly nitpicks):
-You should y-sort the sprites to make sure they are rendered in the correct order
-The transitions between times of day felt really abrupt
-The movement speed felt a little slow, so a sprint button would be nice
-The dialogues felt like they ended before you could really get to know the other characters (but I'm sure you would have written more if you had the time)
Overall a pretty solid game and the art was quite well made!
Nice and chill game, love it's cozy vibe.
Bugs with sprite ordering and collision detection is a bit break immersion, also some empty rooms, I think it's better make less rooms but fill them with some props so they feel alive.
Also day ends too suddenly and player appears a at different locations each time, so there is less sense of open environment.
As it plays as visual novel/dating sim, there is not much sense of top down movement, I think it would benefit if it will be static art with choices. The art on page, and some art in the game is very detailed while you move it's pixel art so it feels inconsistent.
Overall well done, enjoyed playing the game. PS. my choice was May.
Pretty game, really liked the cover art. Felt like the story wasn't always super clear and there was a lot of empty space that probably wasn't necessary (eg all the extra classrooms - probably could've just said not to go in there). The conversations also felt a bit stilted sometimes, but overall a nice entry, good work :)
My first dating sim/visual novel?
But honestly, you guys put 1000% effort on the cover. The game visual can use some improvement.
my waifu - Namsai...
Great game! Good Story! Amazing Music! And wonderful art!
I suggest you should focus on the story and art over game play for this one. The controllable character and the map felt unnecessary. Maybe, if you remove those, or make something like a visual novel instead, You'll have more time to polish the better part of the game. (like more puzzle for example)
Still an amazing game overall. Keep up the good work!
Honestly pretty cool overall, my main feedback would be that the game needs some more polish, like for example it's a bit confusing to constantly be like switching between scenes, without actually doing that yourself. Other than that some general polish could've elevated this game a lot I think. However, I still really like the idea of making it a visual novel, and both the art and music are also great!
I got a waifu ^_^ I chose Baimon.
Very sweet game. Loved the artwork and nice choice of music. I know making many branching paths can be difficult in such a short time. Good work!
The concept and art style are really cute. In the first frame after talking to the shop owner i tried to walk back to the friend and i was suddenly in a hallway which i was confused by. I was hesitant to try the skip button to move the text forward as i thought it would skip all the dialog. A very ambitious project for being done in a week! Nice job!
Pretty great artstyle! Maybe your team should have focused a bit more on the gameplay, but I love the vision! Some of the hitboxes could have been a bit closer to the images in my opinion, and there are a couple of bugs like leaving the room when someone is talking, etc... just some stuff to keep in mind for the next game jam.
