Did VCs and PE funds are “exploring” Indian healthcare. or they’re taking positions, taking control, and taking bets.Hospitals, diagnostics, MedTech, healthtech, specialty clinics — everything scalable is on the radar. Capital is finally doing what policy alone couldn’t: • Accelerating expansion into Tier-2 & Tier-3 India • Professionalizing governance and operations • Funding tech adoption, data systems, and standardization • Helping founder-led healthcare businesses scale nationally For many operators, PE money means speed, systems, and survival in a competitive market. But let’s be honest — this capital comes with strings. • Shorter return cycles vs long-term patient outcomes • Margin pressure on clinicians and care delivery • Growth targets that don’t always respect clinical reality • Founder dilution — not just of equity, but of control and culture exit pressure where investors are more cautious about valuations and exits. A Tale of Two Sessions : “The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice.” - Brian Herbert This week, I had the opportunity to speak to two groups of people on completely opposite ends of the learning spectrum. The first was a key note address to a room full of students as part of the the IFMC (International Financial Management Conference), at CIMP, Patna, getting ready to invest their next two days into deep learning across topics that are increasingly shaping the real world : sustainable finance, ESG disclosure quality, AI in risk and credit, and responsible investment. The second was a mature and accomplished audience of Independent Directors, risk professionals, and corporate finance leaders, investing one hour of their Friday evening to deliberate on Board stewardship and the journey to listing. Different audiences. Different contexts. Different outcomes — if you look at it with one lens. But if you look at it another way, both were the same. Both were about the power of shared thought. Both were about the discipline of learning. Both were about investing time to grow, whether you are just beginning or already leading. The Ministry of Ayush has signed 25 country-to-country MoUs and 52 institute-level international MoUs, strengthening global collaboration for the promotion and research of Ayush. Key initiatives include the Ayush Vertical under DGHS, which supports planning, monitoring, and implementation of Ayush public health programmes, and the development of Standard Treatment Guidelines (STGs) for musculoskeletal and metabolic disorders across Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy, with Yoga integration. Capacity building through national and state-level training ensures effective on-ground adoption. The establishment of Integrated Ayush Departments in premier government hospitals, launch of Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) for Ayush facilities, public health advisories, and ICMR-Ayush collaborative research, including advanced integrative research centres at AIIMS, further strengthen credibility and acceptance.
