Knowledge Exchange, Transfer and Funding Opportunities for Mathematical Sciences

Knowledge Exchange, Transfer and Funding Opportunities for Mathematical Sciences: A talk by Dr Dawn Geatches.

Abstract

Perhaps, as a mathematics practitioner you are wondering how to reach outside your immediate environment to build connections with other organisations, such as business, industry, government, and not-for-profits? You might already have some connections and are looking for funding to carry out collaborative projects? You might be wanting to connect to other practitioners at diverse institutions to network, share, generate exciting ideas and work on projects? If so, then this talk is for you because it will provide information about the knowledge exchange, transfer and funding activities and opportunities on offer from the four supporting bodies for mathematical sciences: The Newton Gateway to Mathematics; The International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS); The KE-Hub for Mathematical Sciences; and Innovate UK Knowledge Transfer Network (Innovate UK KTN).

Dawn GeatchesAbout the speaker

Dr Dawn Geatches is currently the Knowledge Transfer Manager for Mathematical Sciences at Innovate UK KTN, following a career as a computational research scientist exploring the physical and chemical properties of materials, and before that accumulating a portfolio of jobs outside academia. Dawn’s BSc. is in Mathematical Sciences, and PhD in Computational Physics, with a focus on applying quantum mechanics-based software to explore the chemical and physical properties of materials used to generate energy.
