Salesforce CPQ is EOL. It's time to admit it as fact. Last week Salesforce announced that it won't sell Steelbrick/Salesforce CPQ to net new customers. Now, couple that with no product updates in 4+ years. What do you get? End of Life. We can argue semantics about how CPQ will still run and why no one needs to migrate (yet), which is correct. But EOL doesn't mean that a product doesn't work; it means that the company that made it no longer supports it. And that's what we have today: a product that drives a significant revenue stream without continued investment. Add in the fact that there's no feasible way to inject AI into Steelbrick, and no new revenue is coming in the door, and you now have no incentive to build new features. What do you get? End of Life. While Salesforce won't announce it or a sunset date, the writing is on the wall. CPQ is a dying product. I encourage you to begin discovery today to figure out your next move. ⁉️ Salesforce Certifications - Do they matter? Or are they a waste of time? There's been a lot of noise about whether Salesforce Certifications matter in the current Salesforce climate. I’ve seen multiple blog posts, LinkedIn posts, and a highly upvoted Reddit post. In my opinion… Its a resounding YES, they do matter. Certifications are not the perfect way to judge someone's ability, but neither is experience. I have worked with people with multiple Certifications who have been incredibly talented, they have had the vision, the skills, and the desire to do a great job and have excelled. I have also worked with people with multiple Certifications who haven’t been great, they’ve done things against best practices, they have been sloppy with their work, and have generally needed carrying. I have worked with people with years and years of experience, and they have been great. Their experience has helped design and implement excellent solutions and they know the finer details that only come with experience. I have also worked with people with years and years of experience who have not been great. They don't know about the latest features, they don't follow best practices, and they do things how they have always done, making them difficult to work with. Why people think it is a zero sum game I do not know. Certifications and experience work hand in hand. It isn’t one or the other and neither of them are equal in their own right. Does someone who has 6 Certs, with 2 of those being Associate Certs have the same knowledge as someone with 6 Certs, 2 of which are Architect Certs? No. Does someone who has 6 years experience working in a single highly customized Org have the same experience as someone who has 6 years experience working in a small consultancy carrying out multiple implementations each year? No. Certifications matter as it shows a baseline level of understanding and knowledge. Some matter more than others. But they also show the desire of the individual to learn and improve their Salesforce skills. Experience matters as it shows that you have done your time, you’ve walked the walk. Some experience is more valuable than others. But it shows that you know what is expected of you. Lets stop this nonsense of Certs vs Experience. It isn't a binary formula, it isn't as simple as black or white. You shouldn't judge someone of a single data point. Thats just daft. It should be Certs & Experience - a combination. Judging someone based on their Certs or the Experience is a silly thing to do. People take Exam Dumps to pass Salesforce Exams, people lie about their Experience to sound more experienced. What you see isn't always what you get. Speak to the person, understand their skills, what they have done, what they know and what they want to achieve. That will give you a much clearer indicator of who they are. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk 😂

In the Salesforce Winter ’26 release, a new Flow Comparison feature is being introduced that allows you to select and compare two versions of a flow side by side. This makes it much easier to spot changes between versions. The feature supports Record-Triggered, Scheduled, and Auto-Launched flows. Screen flows are not included yet. Could too many Salesforce Certifications be setting you up to fail your interviews?* I am a big believer that if it is on your CV, you should be able to answer questions on it. This belief was reinforced recently when a candidate interviewed for a role and was asked about their Mulesoft experience, because they hold Mulesoft Certifications. When the candidate admitted they had never actually worked with Mulesoft, but had just pursued the certification it was a red flag for the hiring manager. They had gone into the interview with a certain expectation based on several factors, with one being the number and range of certifications the candidate held. I am not saying certifications are a bad thing at all (I studied hard for mine 😬), but with many hiring managers they do set a certain expectation that you then need to be able to uphold in an interview. I guess there are a few ways of looking at it: 1) The candidate may not have been asked in for an interview if they didn't have the certifications, so it at least got them a chance to impress at interview stage 2) Having certifications in areas you do not have experience could be setting you up for failure as it sets an expectation that you may not be able to uphold 3) Certifications alone are not what hiring decisions should be made on What is your take? Validate Early, Fail Fast - with Raise Error in MuleSoft 🚨 In real-world integrations, it’s not just about processing data - it’s about making sure we validate, throw clear errors, and notify teams before things go wrong. 👀 Interesting trend I’ve been noticing in the UK Salesforce space... More and more companies are exploring Salesforce AI, Agentforce, and integrated solutions, but ironically, many are struggling to find developers and architects who have experience beyond just certifications. On the other hand, I’m seeing talented Salesforce professionals stuck—overlooked because hiring cycles are slow, or companies aren’t looking beyond traditional hiring models. In my conversations (and trust me, there’ve been many lately!), what stands out is simple: ➡️ There’s no shortage of talent. But there’s a gap between where companies are looking and where talent is available. Sometimes, a blended approach—leveraging UK-based leads and offshore delivery teams from India—works wonders. It’s not about cost-saving alone anymore; it’s about scalability and flexibility in building strong Salesforce teams. Just some thoughts from my side, having worked across both sides of the table—supporting Salesforce managers in building their teams and helping developers find projects where they can grow.
