slang The win. Can refer to an actual win, as in sports (recorded in a box score as "W"), or to a success. Often used in the phrase "get the W." We played sloppy, but all that matters is that we got the W. You better go in there and get the W—we really need to score this account.
W
1. A victory over someone or something, as in sports. We were sloppy on the court, but all that matters is that we got the W. The team really needs a W tonight if they want to say in the tournament.
2. slang Success in some endeavor or pursuit. I could tell he could really use a W after so much stress at work, so I stopped arguing and told him he was right. You better go in there and get the W—we really need to score this account.
