hardliner
Someone who has an unyielding, inflexible belief in some person or thing. Susan's not a hardliner, so I really think she'll listen to your views on the matter. Unfortunately, our new boss is a hardliner who thinks her way of doing things is the only correct one I know you want to continue the project, but you can't be a hardliner about this. We simply cannot go on without funding.
one-liner
informal A very short, witty joke, remark, or riposte. The comedy has a lot of funny one-liners, but they aren't enough to support the nonsensical plot. The actor is famous for the one-liners in his action films, like telling someone to "stick around" after he impales them to a tree.
penny-a-liner
obsolete A mediocre writer; a hack. Refers to the former practice of hiring such writers and paying them by the line. If the papers finally pay enough to attract legitimate writers, they'll put penny-a-liners right out of business.
