(Six Bits of Het

Three Pieces of Angst

Harry/Draco
PG
58 words

Harry knew that Draco did it on purpose; knew he liked him to feel insecure, wondering. Hated him as he flirted with every guy he came into contact with – hated him, and desired him.

If someone had suggested to Harry that Draco did it because he was scared of losing him, Harry would have laughed in their face.

Sirius/James
PG
18 words

“Tell me I’ve got nothing to be jealous of,” pleaded Sirius quietly; but James, in all honesty, couldn’t.

Lucius/Severus
PG
60 words

“I am a jealous man, Severus,” said Lucius pleasantly, forcing Severus to meet his eyes. Severus’s skin was yellowly pale: however dangerous Lucius usually was, he was very much more so when he made the effort to be pleasant.

“I…”

“I trust I have nothing to be jealous about?” he pressed.

Severus swallowed. And lied.

“No, Lucius; nothing at all.”

James/Lily
PG
27 words

“I’m not jealous,” James yelled at Lily angrily. “I’m just saying that if I see Remus with his arms round you again I’ll break his bloody neck.”

Sirius/Remus Remus/James
PG
185

“I don’t have anything to be jealous about,” growled Sirius, pacing the common room floor as if he were measuring it.

“Don’t you?” James’s voice was light and teasing, his eyes filled with mischief.

Sirius glared at him.

“No.” He walked over to the window and stared out of it moodily. “For one thing, Remus and I are not dating; and for another, even if we were, I wouldn’t have to worry. It’s not as if there are eligible guys falling over each other here, is it?”

“Oh, I don’t know…” said James idly. He glanced at Sirius’s rigid back, and couldn’t resist. “Anyway, if you’re not dating it doesn’t matter, does it?”

“No.”

“So… er… If I were to show an interest in Remus, you wouldn’t be bothered in the slightest?”

Sirius turned abruptly, and strode over to his friend.

“Say that again?” he demanded roughly.

James smiled innocently.

“I said, if I were to show an interest in Remus…”

Sirius cut him off.

“If you touch Remus at all, I’ll kill you,” he swore violently; and as he left the room, James laughed.

James/Lily
PG13
47 words

“Go out with me, Evans,” begged James, not for the first time.

Lily tossed her red hair resentfully.

“What would you want with me when you’re so clearly happy shagging Black?” she snapped back; and it was only later that she realised how much she’d given away.

Ron/Hermione
PG
267

“I don’t see why she should spend so much time with his,” said Ron stubbornly. “Hasn’t he got any friends?

“Well, not many,” Harry said fairly. “I mean, he’s in a foreign country.”

“If he doesn’t like it here, he can go back to his own,” retorted Ron, “instead of hogging Hermione all the time.”

“Oh, I don’t think she minds,” said Harry, hiding a smile.

“She should.”

The portrait hold opened to admit the subject of their conversation, and Hermione smiled at them.

“Hello. Still here?”

“Where else would we be?” demanded Ron grumpily. “After all, you’ve only been gone two hours!”

“Was it that long?” asked Hermione brightly. “I didn’t notice.”

“Hermione, you’re our friend. You ought to be spending time with us,” sulked Ron. “Not off with Victor all the time. Why did he come here, anyway?”

A small, secretive smile crossed Hermione’s face.

“Maybe because he knows people here?”

“If he knows so many people, he can spend time with the rest of them. I - Harry and I – need you.”

“Woah, leave me out of this,” said Harry hastily.

Ron turned a fulminating look on him.

“Some friend you are!”

“So…” said Hermione, “what you’re really saying is that I should be content with you two and not have any other friends?”

“No! Yes! No!”

Ron got to his feet and marched over to her.

“What I’m really saying,” he ground out, drawn into the last ditch, “is if you’re going to start kissing anyone, you can make it me!”

And Hermione’s smile was mischievous as she lifted her face to his.
