Happy Birthday, Jake!
Who: Jake, open
Where: Slytherin table
When: Thursday morning, breakfast
Status: Completed
Summary: Jake's birthday present arrives, and despite his efforts to hide what he's doing, Albus noses into his business, which seems to invite Isabelle and Bri to have a conversation with them. Albus leaves after an implied threat. Eager to escape before word gets out it's his birthday, Jake tries to leave, but Isabelle calls (loudly) a happy birthday after him.
Jake was contently enjoying his breakfast while skimming over a chapter he was supposed to have read the night prior when the mail came. He didn't pay much attention to it; no one really sent him any mail, after all, and he wasn't subscribed to anything.
But when his family's old barn owl dropped down in front him with a relatively large package ... Jake sighed, and hoped no one noticed.
It wasn't that he didn't want people to know it was his birthday ... he just didn't want people to make a big deal about it. Even though it was the birthday, the one every witch and wizard looks forward to.
He was seventeen ... and he could now use magic outside of school.
After taking the package from the owl, he shoo'd it away, glancing furtively around as he started to undo the wrapping on the package.
