New Year's Plans
Who: James Potter, open to those who have reason to be there
Where: Potter Household
When: Dec. 30th, Sunday, evening
Status: Complete
Summary: James is busy trying to think up a suitable prank for the new year when Lily comes across him. Eventually the conversation turns to plans for rescuing James's broom from captivity and the previous prank is momentarily forgotten. In the end, it's decided that Lily will provide a distraction and James will go to where his broom is kept and replace it with something transfigured. First, however, he has to Owl his Uncle Ron to borrow books on Transfiguration under the lie that he needs them for an extra credit project. After their planning, sometime in the middle of the night, James shaves off one of Al's eyebrows. Just one.

It had been a good Christmas as Chistmases went with his family. Nothing altogether spectacular (though an outsider to his family might beg to differ). His grandparents had been their usual selves, and James had had to suffer through a half hour conversation about spark plugs, but that had been fairly usual. Teddy and Victoire had been there, and that had been a little different from the usual scene. James had been looking forward to trying to play jokes on Teddy, but...
Well, it was hard to play pranks on someone who was a little distracted and feel like a pranking genius. It was just too easy!
...sort of. Even distracted, Teddy was a fair match for James. It had made James curious, though. Vic and Teddy were acting kind of weird. But that was usual nowadays, too. No big deal.
All of the usual Chistmas-y things aside, though, the holiday was over.
James grinned to himself, tilting his chair back on two legs as he watched it getting darker through his bedroom window.
Fairly soon, it was going to be the new year.
Which meant he needed a massive prank to set the new year off with a bang...
