A Message to Our Community
Hispanics in Philanthropy announces that Ana Marie Argilagos will be stepping down from her role as President and CEO after nearly nine years of leadership.
During her tenure, HIP solidified its role as a leading Latine transnational philanthropic intermediary, mobilizing more than $50 million in philanthropic capital and expanding its reach across the Americas. During this same period, the organization more than tripled its membership, strengthening partnerships and deepening engagement across philanthropy, civil society, and community leadership. These outcomes reflect HIP’s growing influence and convening power across the hemisphere.
Ana Marie’s strategic decision comes at a moment of significant change in the philanthropic and civic landscape. As communities and institutions navigate evolving challenges and opportunities, HIP is entering its next chapter with clarity and intention. The foundation built during her tenure–programmatic, financial, and organizational–positions HIP to continue evolving alongside the communities it serves.
The Board of Directors has appointed Jennifer Chavez Rubio as Interim CEO, effective January 15, while beginning a broader search for permanent leadership alignment. Throughout this period, HIP’s mission and commitments remain unchanged. Programs, partnerships, and grantmaking will continue without interruption, and the organization remains focused on advancing equity, justice, and opportunity across the Americas.
“Ana Marie’s leadership strengthened HIP in durable and consequential ways,” shared Maria del Socorro Pesqueira, Chair of the Board. “She helped build an organization grounded in trust, partnership, and transnational collaboration, and positioned HIP to move forward with clarity and confidence.”
Reflecting on her transition, Ana Marie shares, “Leading HIP has been one of the greatest honors of my life. This community has shown what is possible when philanthropy, civil society, and grassroots leaders work together across borders. I am proud of what we have built together and confident in HIP’s strength and readiness for its next chapter.”
HIP remains committed to transparency throughout the transition and will share updates with partners, funders, and the broader community as the process unfolds.
We extend our deep gratitude to Ana Marie for her leadership and service, and to the many partners and supporters who continue to place their trust in this work. Together, we will continue advancing a more just and equitable future across the hemisphere.
