“Harry, what’s in that box? And more importantly, why’s it moving?”

Harry grinned at Draco and took the lid off.  A black Labrador puppy jumped out into his lap and began to lick his face, his little tail wagging a mile a minute.

“Harry, when you said you wanted to get a pet, I assumed it would be a cat, or a puffskein… not a big bloody dog!”

“Oh, come on.  Labs are loyal and brave, and make wonderful companions, what more could you want?”

“You just described the ideal Gryffindor.”

Harry smiled.  “I thought we could call him Padfoot.”
