Hoping someone might have some insight into this, as I'm a bit confused by it.
I have a Classic Player Jaguar HH. Alder body, bridge pickup replaced with a Bare Knuckle Nailbomb, strung with the heaviest strings known to man (.72 to .15 - I tune to drop-B and it's a short-scale, so the tension's okay). Pots are (stock) 1meg.
What confuses me is that with the HPF circuit off it sounds really woolly/woofy/muddy with heavy distortion. Very little high-end definition. Where the hell could it be coming from? I did wonder about the strings, but I used to have it in standard tuning with pretty standard strings and it still sounded like that then.
