Howdy folks..

I'm new here to your little community, but not new to LJ and not all that new to guitar stuff either.

I currently play on a decent Ovation off-brand acoustic and a piece-o-junk-going-to-burn-it-like-Jimi-and-then-smash-like-The Who JcPenney Strat knockoff. It doesn't stay in tune and has been tooled to fix the tuning problem [still not working] (neck removed and re-placed, 1/2 inch out from prior position, with a gap) I play the latter through a real decent Park by Marshall amp (small enough to rattle the windows and floors, but not enough to get me evicted)

On December 28, I'm ordering a Fender Deluxe Super Strat and I am probably getting a tube emulator for Christmas or possibly a Dunlop Crybaby Wah-wah pedal.

My musical interests are all over the board.. Lately, It's Stevie Ray Vaughan, Susan Tedeschi, Rage Against the Machine, and Melissa Etheridge.

Does anyone have any experience with Fender Deluxe Super Strats or tube emulators? Please let me know.

Thanks much,
Riley

Johnson Effects Pedals

To anyone thinking about buying a Boss pedal, I'd recommend checking out Johnson pedals as well. They don't seem to be very common (I've only found them at one store so far), but they seem to be of equal quality to Boss as far as I can tell, and tend to be a bit cheaper. They also make a fairly affordable analog delay that's supposed to be pretty good, although I haven't had a chance to try it.

Don't get me wrong, Boss pedals are nice, but why pay more when you get a cheaper equivalent?

Just joined

hello i'm new and in love with the community. I've been playing the guitar for over a year. I got my first guitar when i was 12. The first guitar i got was a navy blue sparkle Ibanez. A year later i got the Tom DeLonge Fender strat. It's a beauty. I recently got a new amp too. A spyder amp. Don't know if anyone has ever heard of it. I need a pedal for it though. Just thought i would say something sinch i just joined. Sorry if i sound like an idiot.

Speaker Damage?

I've got a Mesa 4x12 closed-back cabinet with Celestion 30s in it.

Recently, my band has been using this cab for bass out of desperation, though we've kept the volume to a minimum out of fear for the health of the speakers. Could the speakers have been damaged?

On a few occasions, I've noticed disconcerting speaker distortion when playing the bass through this cab; I promptly turned the bass' volume down.

Just today, I've noticed a slightly different problem while playing guitar through the cab. On certain notes, there is a strange vibration coming from inside the cabinet. While feeling the rear panel to see if it was the source of the vibration, I noticed that the vibration would become a little louder as I pressed against the rear panel.

On a related note:

How much would it cost to get the speakers repaired/re-coned if they have, in fact, been damaged?

Has anyone played a Seymour Duncan SH-10 Full Shred pick up? They are used on the most recent Opeth albums, and I really like the sound they make. I am curious if anyone has any experience with them. I am looking to put a set in a Gibson Les Paul...
Thoughts?

hey guys, i've got a few questions... i've had this '69 fender princeton reverb for a while, and i love the thing to death, its got the perfect tone for my style of play. the only problem i have with it is that it seems that when ever i turn the bass up past like 2 or 3, it gets really muddy.

is this cause its old?
is it the speaker?
could it be something thats just worn out on the inside of the amp?
would i have to get a tech to do something to it, and if so, how much would it cost?

thanks in advance

I'll need a new strap soon. I'll finally be able to play my RI '72 Tele Deluxe for the first time in 2.5 months on Sunday, as was the price for my father paying for half of the bill.

I refuse to put my Gibson bolt strap on the Tele lest it have an identity crisis, and also because it's fairly well ducttaped to my harmony strat right now. I really would like to get a locking strap that does not require me to switch out the strap buttons on my tele. Ducttape, obviously, is not an option with this guitar. So any suggestion would be appreciated greatly.
