    障害を持ちたくて持った人など一人もいない。家族には「あの子がいなければ」と「あの子がいてくれたから」という相容れない気持ちのせめぎ合いがある。障害者をきれいごとでは受け止めきれないことを認めたうえで、与えられた命を精一杯生きることに尊さを見いだすべく踏みとどまります。

    障害者と健常者はなだらかにつながっている。事故にしろ病気にしろ、どんな人でも人生の最後に動けなくなるから。障害の有無を問わず、いつか自分が社会にとって不要な存在になり排除される恐怖を抱えている。だからこそ互いに連帯し、依存し合える社会を模索できないかとする熊谷晋一郎氏の提言で締めくくります。
