Hi!
I'm Brie, and I'm a 20 year old trans woman from Ireland. Trans healthcare here is the worst in Europe and the public waiting list is over a decade long. It also does not cover FFS, and neither does any private route. As a result I have to pay entirely out of pocket. I cannot understate how my mental health and overall day-to-day life suffers extremely due to my dysphoria and the consequences of not passing, transitioning surgically would relieve this immensely.
I have been out as trans since I was 14 years old, and have been medically transitioning via DIY hormones for almost 4 years. In 2023 I was set to have my surgeries covered by a clinic in Europe, and was told that I would be able to access these surgeries, to the point of travelling over there and meeting the doctors. This would have allowed me to have both a peace of mind I have never experienced and would have granted me physical safety and the freedom to go about every aspect of my life without the burden and impact of being visibly trans. I have since been entirely ghosted by this clinic that had promised to help me transition. Ireland's health service denies referring anyone.
I have attempted every other means of being able to afford this surgery with little success. From applying to countless trans surgery grants, financial aids, or fundraisers and being rejected or ignored, struggling to find employment, previous fundraising campaigns, selling my belongings online, along with other methods that I would prefer not to mention which have further affected my mental health. having FFS would mean the world to me.
Thank you for reading and I really hope you consider donating/sharing! Anything at all is appreciated<3
