.tech is a Top-Level Domain (nTLD) for tech startups. It tells VCs, customers, and the world that your startup’s core is tech.
You can get it right here. Just scroll up and search for the domain you want in the search bar. Prefer a registrar? .tech is available on GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, Domain.com, 1&1 Ionos, OVHCloud, and Network Solutions.
When you register a domain, your contact information, like name, email, and registered address, shows up in the public WHOIS directory by default. Privacy Protection hides that and replaces it with generic details so your data stays private.
If Privacy Protection is not included with your domain, you can purchase it during registration or later through your .tech or registrar control panel.
To enable or disable Privacy Protection, follow these steps:
- Log in to the .tech control panel (visit the registrar website if you haven’t purchased through .tech)
- Go to your domain settings
- Find the Privacy Protection or WHOIS Privacy option
- Turn it on or off
- Save your changes

If your .tech domain expires, here's what happens:
- Days 1-36: Renewal Grace Period
Your domain stops working, but you can still renew it at the regular price.
- Days 37-66: Redemption Period
You can restore your domain by paying a restoration fee and the renewal cost.
- Days 67-71: Pending Delete
The domain is locked. You can’t renew or recover it.
- After Day 71: Publicly Available
The domain is deleted and open for anyone to register. Popular domains may get snapped up instantly.
Best move? Renew early or for multiple years. It’s the easiest way to avoid losing your domain.
We send multiple reminders before your domain expires. Mandatory emails go out 30 and 7 days before expiry. You can also choose to get reminders on the 1st, 11th, and 21st day in the last 45 days. These can be managed from your .tech or registrar control panel.
If you miss the deadline, you have a 36-day Grace Period to renew your domain at the regular price. After that, your domain enters a 30-day Redemption Period. You can recover it, but the process includes a restoration fee.

Yes, you can transfer your domain to another provider or registrar. Transfer charges apply. Before you begin, check that your domain is eligible. For detailed steps and eligibility checks, refer to this guide.
Premium domains are short, easy to remember, and often include popular keywords. They're priced higher—at varying costs—based on factors like character count, search demand, recall value, and potential to drive traffic.
Reserved domains are held back by the registry. This could be due to policy restrictions, sensitive terms, or internal use. These domain names may not be available for registration.
