Listens: Keyshia Cole - Heaven Sent

Been v. productive lately.

- Went to the doctor again the day before yesterday because I'm still having the same symptoms as before. They advised me to see a specialist and sent off for a culture to be done to try and figure out what kind of bacteria it is. They also put me on some harsher antibiotics with the advice that if two other medications had been unable to knock this out further things needed to be done. I have an appointment with a urologist Thursday at 9:30.

- Took the car in and got the oil and windshielder wipers replaced (good bye $75!). I need to get the transmission liquid changed as well but they wanted to charge me $120 for it. I found a place that will do it for $75.

- Called vets all over town to get Riko, my male cat, neutered. One place wanted $120 for it! The cheapest place, and nicest place, told me $50 for the surgery (including pain pills) and around $40 for the shots. Have an appointment for the shots Monday at 2:30. You're going to be half a man soon Riko!

- Went to financial aid and found out I got denied by FAFSA. They said it was because my mother had a pay increase, which is untrue but there are less dependents my mother is claiming this year in contrast to last year. Going to owe around $300 for classes. Hopefully I can pay this without having to take out another loan. In good news, I did get my scholarship back.

- Presented my project today. It went pretty well, even if one of my group members was rather nasty to me because the slides I had added to his sides did not get sent via e-mail. I DID them but when I sent the e-mail the attachment didn't go through for some reason. They didn't tell me until this morning when it was due. Luckily all my sides and his slides were saved in our e-mails so I was able to quickly copy and paste everything back in. The presentation went pretty well and hey I can be egotistical and say I spoke the best and had the most knowledge about the area I had done. I provided a great deal more information than I had included on the slides whereas he just read directly from them. I did miss a lot of the field work due to work and the whole medical thing but I think I made up for it in other ways. I'm just glad it's finally over.

Code Geass is my new lover. It's gotten so good and poignant lately. I love the character development, the different turns and surprises, and the sheer descent to darkness this anime has taken.

Like the Rolo death scene? I never really cared much for him until all the lines he said as he was escaping with Lelouch and kept using his Geass despite the fact he knew it was killing him. I really felt for the kid after that. He had spent his whole life being used and just being treated like a tool. Everything he did was not his own making but someone else's. It was always someone else's will in whatever grand scheme. It wasn't until that last moments of his life that he did something that was COMPLETELY his own will. Not even Lelouch had anything to do with it or planned on him doing what he did. (Though one could say killing Shirley was his own will but we'll ignore that little scene, shall we?)

I've seen a lot of discussion about Lelouch's reaction to Rolo. I think that Rolo redeemed himself in Lelouch's eyes when he saved him. Lelouch was alone, even Kallen had abandoned him, and Rolo was the only one who remained by his side regardless of Lelouch's words revealing they were all pawns and he had just been using. Rolo was able to get past that and focus on his own feelings towards his brother, which was that he loved him despite the horrible things he did, even if they concerned Rolo himself. Not even Kallen could do that, though I do believe she is a stronger character because of this. I'm not entirely certain if Lelouch cared about Rolo beforehand (I would lean more towards no because I believe he tried to kill him just a few episodes before) but because of Rolo's sacrifice Lelouch did come to care for him. He just didn't realize it until late. 'You're not alone' is a powerful message. It was a core theme in Inuyasha and it's presented here. Rolo was the only one who said to Lelouch "You're not alone" and that makes all the difference.

As for Suzaku, I like how he got so little screen time. I mean he just blew up a HUGE section of Tokyo and killed thousands. More people wanted to see a reaction from him but I think the reaction we got was profoundly perfect. He was so devastated by what he did that he COULDN'T react to it. He was in shock for hours and it took a very long time for it to finally sink in. When it did, we get the laughing scene where he starts to lose it. I'm sure in the next few episodes we'll get to see him unravel completely, like Azula from Avatar. Next thing you know he'll be shooting lightning from his fingers and chopping his hair off.
