This is book nine in the Abbot Agency Mystery series and can be read as a standalone although there is more enjoyment to be had in terms of both timeline and character development in reading from the start of the series. An engrossing read.

    Each book of the series has been getting more crazy than the previous one. But this one is really over the top! So much that I got bored and fed up.

    What was entertaining and amusing at the beginning of the series now gets fastidious. Bea is a mix of Sherlock Holmes, Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot, with a touch of a wicked Mother Teresa, as well as Wonderwoman. Other characters are horrible, hopeless, selfish and demanding people, some whining, others playing heroes. The villains are wicked ruthless bastards.

    I am not sure that I will carry on with the series. (Although I had already downloaded the following instalment)

    This is probably my favorite series ever! First, main character Bea a is a woman in her 60s who is competent, intelligent, attractive, and capable. Through the series, she grows even more so. Every character is fully formed and a bit quirky. The mysteries are complicated and fully realized. For best understanding, start with the first and read through the series, but each can also be read individuals.
