More on Wallander!
I got a lot of recs from my
sgagenrefinders search, so I've read a lot of fic today and yesterday. Not a bad way to recuperate. *g*
Today I felt better, so I finally tackled The Man Who Smiled (s02e02). Good episode. Watching this show has really reminded me of why I fell in love with Kurt Wallander to begin with. He's not a romantic hero by any means, but that mixture of a solid moral core, deep and unvoiced affection for family, and abject misery has always appealed to me.
Look at this picture:

This is a man who's forgotten to shower, so he's wiping his armpits on the curtains in his office. He's a mess.
I just want to hug him (preferably after he's had a shower) and tell him that everything will be aright, that his daughter does love him even if she's angry at him right now, that the end of his marriage doesn't mean that his life is over, and that he's not only a good cop, but a good man.
