Hi

Why do people like the color black on an iPhone ? isn't the color black on iPhone more prone to overheating in the summer months especially if you live in the desert south west like extreme southern California Arizona border nv and Phoenix area ? then other color iPhone

I used to always get the Space Grey iPhones back when we still had the home button as I absolutely detested the white bezels. Since then I’ve had Gold, Sierra Blue, Deep Purple and now Deep Blue. Personally wouldn’t get another black backed iPhone unless the choice was between that and Silver.

A number of seasons. Eg some think that black looks more “professional”, especially in a work environment.

Personally, I don’t wear black. I’m self employed and the only time that I wear black is to funerals (which at my age is starting to happen far too often) and maybe weddings. Why do people wear black to funerals? I probably know the answer, but black just reminds me of, well, death.

But being a bit more serious it’s (or should be) a personal choice that shouldn’t be influenced by others.

I don't like black phones at all, but not due to heat (though that is a decent additional reason).

For one, most everyone has black phones/cases. I'd much rather have something that stands out if a bunch of people put their phones on the table at a restaurant or something like that.

Secondly, I put my phone in dark places pretty often (nightstand, on a dark couch, in a golf cart) and if your phone is all black, it's really hard to see.

Two reasons:
  1. Black goes with everything and never goes out of fashion
  2. There are other places to live than, "...in the desert south west like extreme southern California Arizona border nv and Phoenix area."

Monochrome winds me up something chronic.

Want a great phone? Monochrome
Want a great car? Monochrome
Stylish clothes? Monochrome

The world is hard and often dull, yet designers the world over insist our possessions are Monochrome.

Thank goodness for Cosmic Orange as monochrome truly is the choice of dullards!

I'm a graphic designer. I deal in color all day. I want a break from that with my devices. Besides, most of my devices wallpaper is color anyway.

As to heat…

I live in Phoenix, AZ. For two summers I drove a car with no AC and the windows stuck closed. Getting to work was fine, coming home was not. 45 minutes to an hour in traffic in 100º plus heat inside a car with no A/C and windows closed.

My iPhone 6s+ did absolutely fine. My Pixel 3a XL shut down due to overheat every time.

For those in Florida that are chiming in, you guys have humidity to deal with and I really feel for you and your phones. Out here in PHX, it's a dry heat as they say.

I would literally make holes in my window if I was in your case, absolutely not. I live in Houston Texas so we get high heat and humidity during summer and would not drive a car without AC

Yeah, it's different here. We do get humidity, but usually only in August. I had water when I was making the drive. Which helped, but is still nuts.

I lived in Houston when I was a kid, so totally get the humidity. I haven't been there in over 45 years though.
