I updated a fairly new macbook pro to Tahoe and now every app I open it gets deselected and I have to keep clicking the app to make it active but this happens constantly no matter what app, even with finder. It also prevents me from typing because it will deselect the app. Anyone else have this issue? I reinstalled a fresh copy but it still does the same thing. I will have to downgrade if I don't find a fix since it pretty much makes it unusable.

Thanks for the feedback. I tried reinstalling and removing desktop widgets to no avail. After the reinstall, it was happing on the first logon screen. Weird. Thanks again.

Just an update.. i had to take it to apple store the other day (before the newest update that was just released) and they just re-installed the OS for me and it worked fine. Just annoying I had to do that.

Thanks for the update. I'd hoped the latest update would resolve the issue on this laptop. Alas, it did not. I'll probably wipe it and start over.

I've been reading about this issue (apps losing focus) quite a bit lately. It's apparently a bug with the OS, and I can personally attest that it was around long before Tahoe.

It's really obvious (to me) in Adobe apps, as well as system dialogue boxes where you used to be able to just hit the Enter key to accept (or say OK, Save, or whatever the default button was), but now the dialog boxes lose their focus and you have to click on them to bring them back into focus.

I've reported this bug to Apple via Feedback app in Sequoia and now Tahoe, but I have zero faith that they'll actually figure out what's causing it (bug vs. conflict with another app/utility) or fix it.
