Description

An "AG" to "AA" point mutation at the acceptor site of the last intron-exon junction which results in a frame-shift by one nucleotide. As a result, the last 91 amino acids of the wild-type gene product are changed to 31 new amino acids. The conserved "LTPP" destruction box is missing in CycEWX the protein.

The percentage of ovarioles that retain CycEWX mutant follicle stem cell clones is lower than that of wild-type clones. In contrast, there is no significant difference in CycEWX mutant germ line stem cell retention compared to wild-type clones.

Heterozygosity for dapunspecified (a null allele of dap) partially rescues the persistence of CycEWX mutant follicle stem cells, measured 12 days after clone induction in both adults and larvae.

Expression of Scer\GAL4tub-driven dapScer\UAS.cdNa completely suppresses the formation of large transient CycEWX follicle cell clones.

Scer\GAL4tub-driven co-expression of E2fScer\UAS.cNa and DpScer\UAS.cDa in follicle stem cell (FSC) clones suppresses the CycEWX-associated defective FSC-maintenance phenotype.

Scer\GAL4tub- or Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI-driven expression of thScer\UAS.cHa does not suppress the loss of follicle stem cells in CycEWX mutant clones.

Scer\GAL4unspecified-driven expression of shgScer\UAS.cSa suppresses the loss of follicle stem cells in somatic clones of CycEWX.
