Silver weapons

Silver Weapons (銀の武器 Gin no Buki) are among the strongest categories of weapons found in the Fire Emblem series.

Overview

Of the basic weapon categories, Silver weapons are usually among the strongest weapons in their respective games. In most games Silver weapons appear in, they are known for their very high damage output, even against those with high defense. Silver weapons are typically both lighter and more powerful than Steel weapons, and they do not appear in armories until later in the games. The primary drawback of Silver weapons compared to the lower-tier Steel and Iron weapons is their lower durability, while they are also among the most expensive weapons to buy.

In Fire Emblem Fates, the weapon durability mechanic is absent, removing that particular drawback. However, equipping a Silver weapon inflicts a penalty of -5 critical evasion, and after using a Silver weapon in battle, the user's Strength and Skill will also drop by 2 points, with a recovery rate of 1 Strength/Skill per turn.
