Varan is an enemy from Final Fantasy X-2. It uses Aerouge's model from Final Fantasy X.
As with most of the Imp enemies, it is wise to bring elemental resistant or absorbing abilities and equipment to nullify Varan's spells, or be able to cast Reflect or Shell. Varan is not particularly powerful otherwise and will fall under pressure of Fire-elemental attacks.

Varan is available for capture starting from Chapter 3, with a Trap pod S in either the Moonflow or the Calm Lands.
Fiend Tale
One notable Varan was created from the soul of a Sphere Break player who was afflicted with a terrible curse. Upon completing this fiend tale, Varan can be found in the Aurochs' locker room in Luca, and the player can challenge his Cursed Core Sphere, which has a quota of 500 and is incredibly difficult to beat. Upon beating him, the player receives the Enterprise accessory, which grants Break HP Limit.
