Syphax, the Insidious, is an enemy in Final Fantasy XIII. It is the mark of Cie'th Stone Mission 30 and is one of the Undying. Unlike the other mission marks, Syphax is not present when the battle starts and only appears when 26 Numidias have been defeated.
Mission
30 - Syphax, the Insidious
| Mark: | Syphax | |
| Locale: | Mah'habara Subterra - Abandoned Dig | |
| Class: | B |
The Undying—fearsome Cie'th who defy Fal'Cie will, driven by an intense loathing of all that lives. Syphax, the Insidious, is of their number—a number I am tasked with bringing low.
My mark dwells in the abandoned dig Cie'th lair deep withing the bowels of Mah'habara. He's a treacherous foe, to be sure, but one I must overcome if I am to see my crystallized beloved again.
Stats
Battle
Syphax attacks with Lamenting Cry which deals no damage, but has a 15% chance to inflict Slow, Curse, Deprotect, Deshell, Debrave and Defaith for 30 seconds around it. When it falls below 40% HP, it can use Revenge of the Fallen which deals 543-1,065 damage, ignores magic resistance and grows in power every time a certain number of Numidias have been defeated (dealing ten times the damage after 181 Numidias). When there are six or fewer Numidias in the battle (three or fewer if below 40% HP), or after using Revenge for the Fallen, Syphax can use Grave Summons to summon up to eight Numidias. Summoned enemies do not drop anything; the battle always rewards 30,000 CP (60,000 with Growth Egg) no matter the number of defeated Numidias.
The party should start in Rapid Growth (SYN/SYN/SYN) paradigm and bestow Bravery/Faith, Veil and any En-effect. Numidia horde is easily dispatched with Devastation (COM/COM/SAB) and Aggression (COM/COM/RAV). Syphax should be staggered with Smart Bomb (RAV/RAV/SAB) then dispatched the same way.
